Funding has been provided in part by Georgia's Electric Membership Corporation, lighting the way by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, GA College.

It's time to expect more by the Atlanta Falcons.

By viewers like you.

Thank you.

And the GHC would like to thank State Farm, Verizon Wireless and Wilson for their support of GHC athletic activities.

Live from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, it's the 2009 GHC, Class five state football championship.

Tonight is the 12 and two Camden County Wildcats, the defending state champs taking on the once beaten north side.

Warner Robins Eagles making their fourth state title appearance in the last five years.

And good evening, everyone.

Dave Garner, alongside former Atlanta Falcons Harper, LaBelle and Harper as much as you know a little bit about this atmosphere here inside the Georgia Dome, tell you what these two teams.

We have here in the title game tonight.

Well, Dave, if you and I were going to try to put together the perfect scenario for a great championship football game, we included our audience.

They probably want to have a lot of different things like a history, but a good team right now, a team that has promising future ahead of it.

You take a great coaching staff, some great players, mix in a little bit of adversity, put it all together with a tough regional schedule and an even tougher playoff bracket.

And while you've got the two best teams right now getting ready to play here at the Georgia Dome for the state championship.

Let's talk a little bit, Harper, about this Camden County Wildcat team.

They've got athletes on both sides of the ball and it starts offensively.

To run this Delaware wing team that Jeff Herron has put together.

They're going to look for Ian Days.

This is a guy that can bring the ball.

He's rushed for over 1200 yards.

He has 19 touchdowns and he can just flat out bring it.

He's going to be elusive.

And what he's going to try to do offensively is take control of the offense, run the clock and give them a chance to win.

Now, defensively, stays does play some linebacker, but Glenn Mack is really one of their outside leaders.

This linebacker has seven forced fumbles.

He's been able to get a couple of times past the line of scrimmage and do some damage.

He's got three interceptions as well.

So for them to play well and for the rest of the two teams that are here tonight, for Jeff Herron to win a state championship, they're going to have to bring it.

Coach here and of course.

Has been with the program now ten years and moments ago, our very own Jared Oliver, we caught up with coach here to get the game plan tonight and what we can expect.

From the Wildcats.

I'm here with Coach Herron.

What is your offensive and defensive game plan for today?

Well, offensively, we run the wing TE and, you know, people have been kidding me over there about, you know, running the ball and how much we're going to run the ball.

But that's what we do.

Gerald And, you know, our kids believe in it.

Northside makes it tough to do that, but that's what we're going to try to do.

And if we can't, we're going to have problems.

On the defensive side of the ball.

How do you plan to stop them?

Well, they're very versatile on offense and we play at three, three and hopefully that'll help some.

But the first thing you gotta do is stop their quarterback.

He's a great football player.

He like to kill Newton last week and then they've got a great running back.

And then when you shut them down, they throw it real well, some good receivers.

So I don't know that we can stop them.

We just got to try to slow them down.

All right.

Thanks a lot, Coach.

Thank you.

Coach Aaron can become the 10th Georgia high school football coach to win his fourth state title if.

The Wildcats can pull off here tonight.

All right, Harper, let's talk about the north side, Warner Robins, Eagles.

That team, of course, making their fourth final appearance in the last five years.

They've got athletes on both sides of the ball as well.

Yeah, there are no strangers to.

This ball game and playing in this arena offensively.

They're going to have a guy that might have a familiar name that you might.

Recognize, Shaquille O'Neal, but he's not the basketball star.

This is a gridiron great.

Shaquille O'Neal has rushed for over a thousand yards.

He's got 13 touchdowns on the ground now in the air.

He's also caught several passes and got a touchdown there as well.

To get the ball to them.

It's going to be their quarterback.

Pryor Band, front number 13, the six foot four junior is one of the best players that they have in this lineup.

He's got a real strong arm, but he's very elusive.

He's slippery when he runs.

He gained 148 yards last week for Conrad Nix to be a returning champion one more time.

These two are going to have to play well tonight.

Hey, Coach Nix, of course, grabbed his 300th career win as a high school football.

Coach last week in the series.

And our very own Geraldo Rivera caught up with Coach Nix moments ago as well to talk about the game plan tonight for the Eagles.

Maybe coach sneaks.

What is your offensive and defensive game plan for today?

Well, hopefully score more points than them.

That's the main goal.

And, you know, hopefully we can move the ball, not let them control the time and the clock all night long.

It's going to be a really, really big challenge for us that they really appreciate our offense.

They they do a really good job with the things that they do the scheme, and they come out with a big play.

So we're going to have to make sure that we somehow stop the run to slow the run down and Mike and not let them have the big play at the same time.

And, you know, our offensive will go, I just had to move the ball, move the ball some score some points.

I don't know how many points that we can score, but I hope that we can score one more than I do, you know.

All right.

Well, thanks a lot, coach.

Thank you.

Back up to you, Dave.

Coach Nicks, 24 years at North Side.

All right.

Now let's finally meet the real member of our broadcast team, Gerald Rivera.

Now live on the sideline with more on this one.

Gerald, what do you got for us?

Hey, Dave Kingsland, Georgia is officially shut down right now.

This is a huge game for Camden County Mayor Kenneth Smith called this the Super Bowl for the Wildcats and his fans.

They brought about three busloads of people up here today.

Now, on the other side, this is equally huge for the Eagles.

As you take a look at their stands, they're nearly completely full on their side of the field.

North Side did win the toss and they deferred.

So, Dave, we should get a look at that Camden County offense first to start this game.

All right.

Thank you, Gerald.

Look forward to hearing from you throughout the rest of the night.

We'll go ahead, step aside.

Be right back with the opening kickoff for watching the 2009 GHC State Football Championships live on GPB.

We're back in a moment.

Let's get started.

Let's get started.

Saturday Night Football fever inside the Georgia Dome again, Dave Garner.

Alongside Harper Lavelle.

Gerald over on the sideline as the Wildcats and the Eagles are through the banners and set to do battle here in this Class five state football championship live on GPB.

Well, both teams have been the dominant programs.

In the state.

Of Georgia over the last ten years.

Camden County, 120 wins, fourth state championship game two state titles.

Has been remarkable over the last ten seasons.

And of course, North Side, equally impressive, won 21 and 13.

One more win.

Fifth state title.

Game here tonight and two state titles as well.

Of course, those coming in back to back years in oh six and seven.

Harper again, two programs here tonight.

A lot of folks are calling this perhaps.

The matchup of the decade because you have two of the arguably the best.

Programs in the state, if not the two best only.

Buford has won more games than.

These two teams.

Yeah, folks, South of Atlanta are saying that these two teams are obviously the best in the state, and for obvious reasons, they're going to be debating that for years to come.

On who has the state champion for the decade?

Claim to fame.

Devon Pike.

The excellent senior kicker, will booted it away for Northside.

Days and green back deep.

For the Wildcats.

Northside won the toss but deferred the second half and this will be days from inside the five.

He's got the.

15 watch out days 30.

3540 out to midfield and more he could be gone.

It's a foot race 2010, five and days into the end zone.

Touchdown Wow.

96 yards on the opening kick off of the game And how's.

That for a statement out of the gate?

Well.

You want to start with special teams and make a statement.

You're exactly right.

That's the way to do it.

He catches the ball on what appears to be the four or five yard line and look at the blocking.

Everybody's got a guy, they've got a hat, and all he does is go along the left sideline number eight.

He had a chance to hit him there.

But this man is fast.

He's big.

He's done this in the playoffs before.

Touchdown Cameron County.

So Matt of the junior kicker.

Quickly on the field here for the Wildcats.

We'll try to add this to this game starts with fireworks.

It's been an excellent weekend of high school football from the Georgia Dome right here.

Of course, the games today.

Coming right down to the wire.

And we can only hope for more here tonight, but a great start for Camden County.

He puts it through seven.

Nothing just.

Like that.

We'll take another look at the shot from ground level.

You can see days just making guys this hit that sideline.

And then it was a footrace.

That was a big straight arm right there that he delivered on Devon Pike.

The kicker, he wasn't able to bring him down.

And right there at the end, there was a brief opportunity for Brandon Brown, the defensive back, a senior, to tackle him.

But it was a little too little, little too late.

He's in the end zone and across for the touchdown.

Brandon Brown again you gave him good chase but.

Day's 96 yards showing.

That explosion already in just one play.

We're going to talk a lot about the special teams here tonight, Harper, because they've been excellent throughout the postseason and some big returns of the year.

The special teams for both these teams throughout the year.

Well, it's only 20% of what a ball game really is all about.

The offense and defense take up the majority of that.

But if you can play better in your 20% than what your opponent can, then you have a statistical increase in your chances to win a ballgame.

All smiles on the Camden County sideline right now after the opening kickoff.

Now, Maddie has will tee it up and we'll see the flip side of that.

Special teams mark of course.

Camden twice beaten this year.

They lost to a Hoover the powerhouse program out of the Birmingham area.

Right at the end of that ballgame actually had a big lead there over 15 and oh, of course, last year.

But despite the two losses this year, find themselves right back here in the state championship game.

We'll see.

Bryce Williams, the excellent return man now for Northside along with Don Tobias.

Anderson is back deep and we're not even 15 seconds into this ballgame and we've got to.

Score here as he has deep that one going to die at the.

One wow it takes a great bounce.

Williams will pick it up.

He's in trouble and he will go down inside the ten.

Williams, a South.

Carolina commit is probably the best athlete on the football team.

If not on the defensive side of the ball.

But he was him.

Dunn Right there.

I thought that ball was going to bounce into the endzone and it just wouldn't do it.

I did too.

I thought with her trajectory on that ball, the way that it hit on the line, really at the one yard line it should have rolled forward.

But that's why the football is off long and it takes tricky bounces sometimes, so they're going to have their work cut out for them.

Bryce Span runs.

Is the quarterback six four.

Hundred and £90.

Junior you see his numbers 60 of 118 496 yards, six touchdowns, 12 picks.

But again, this is a Northside team whose bread butter is running the football.

And that's what we're going to see here tonight.

Man in Motion.

That's Quinn.

Green Brunt going to throw it on first down over to Williams and he's got.

The completion for a gain of about seven.

You know you and I joked around a little bit as we take a look at the starters here.

Word in the center journey Del Rio, the guards flanked by POGUE and Stephens.

The tackle is pretty big up front and in the backfield, of course.

O'Neil and Chris Vickers, Brooks.

Green and.

Cross, some pretty good targets there.

When the Eagles do decide to throw the football, they will have the Wildcat defensive starters for you tomorrow.

We talked around those as these two teams like to run the football.

This game might be an hour and a half, might be about it.

And then, of course, Northside opens up with a pass.

Boy, this time Van Brunt going nowhere as the Wildcats defense stacks it up inside.

And you can take your pick right there.

Big number.

90.

Nine is certainly a guy that stands out on that side of the football as we take a look at the starters there, Bruce, the big guy in the middle with Jackson and Salisbury.

Yes, they call him Steak Attaway, Mac and factor of the linebackers.

And of course, the secondary includes two.

Ponies in Hammond and Reeder are.

Very athletic, along with Murphy and Green at the corners and marks the safety and he is quick he runs a four for 40.

So third down and two here after no gain on that last play every one of those defensive players was in on that last one as they.

Were van brought on the ground good to keep it and this one going to be close to the first.

Down needed to get to the 17.

And that's right where they're going to spot the football is Matt Jackson made the tackle for Camden County.

And the only question now is whether or not Jackson tackled him shy of the marker.

Van Brown, as he takes the ball here, pretty much there's no chance at all.

And he's going to give up the ball.

He's going to take it the whole way he's tackled.

They're real close to the first down.

Depends on where his knee hit.

But here's a six foot four quarterback.

You don't see that out of a lot of different quarterbacks that are that big.

So he's obviously been watching some film of some little guys and said, I can do that too.

So the measurement right here, it looks like it's going to be a little bit short.

By about the length of the football.

So fourth down.

For Northside and it looks like they will trot the team out of the field, the then side with their loan loss.

This year against their rival, Warner Robins, 2120 just one point from a perfect season.

And as much as that loss still stings, this Northside team win here tonight would certainly ease that pain a little bit.

Yeah, absolutely.

Especially at this level when you're playing for the state championship and you get a chance to have that trophy in the cup in your arms, it makes a huge difference.

Devin Pike also handles the punting duties as well.

We're going to look at Camden as number nine back deep there.

Stephen Murphy, his nickname is Charlie.

A little bit of a rush right there.

Pike gets it away and boy, you boomed it, returnable for.

Murphy from his own 36, trying.

To get the edge.

And he's got the corner.

Look out Murphy down the sideline and finally, oh, he tiptoes it and stays in bounds.

Murphy ten five.

Are you kidding?

Wow.

Moorside had a shot at of back at the 35 and Murphy tiptoes the sideline in for a touchdown.

Tip toeing the sidelines.

I thought he was out, but he didn't go between the 30 and the 40.

But there was a great block here by number 39.

Zach Marks locks in right there.

Boom, there's the hit.

Murphy walks along the sideline.

There's no repeat here.

He gets his feet in.

Nothing going out of bounds.

Touchdown tight.

Rhodes the sideline right there.

And so the.

Wildcats with two touchdowns on special teams.

Here this.

First quarter.

They haven't run the play Nope.

So once again it has for.

The point after to try to make it a 14 point ballgame and this one is just inside the right upright.

So with 946 left here.

In the opening quarter, Chandler with two touchdowns 13.

Nothing as we take another look at the return.

Watch the speed once he gets outside and realizes there's nobody got a chance except right there.

And number 80, that's Pike again.

That's the second time he's had to make a big play.

Great camera work there and viewed by our GPB crew.

Murphy indeed stated Bounds right there and you know we talked to the top Harper in the pre game about how explosive the offense is how great these defenses are and here we go it's it's special teams without an offensive snap here for Camden County.

It's unbelievable when you start a game at this level.

Now, North Side's going to get their Bering Strait.

They've been hit in the chops in a heavyweight fight.

They've got to be able to get their balance.

Now, once they get here, let's not get the ball on the six yard line anymore.

Let's get the ball up past 20 and do what we do best.

The reason we're here.

So Conrad Nix has a challenge here to get this team playing a little bit harder and better and more efficiently.

But Camden's come out with a couple of one two punches and both resulted in touchdowns.

And you to look at Murphy, who will now come out there as one of the head hunters on that kickoff team and go down trying to make a tackle right here.

You see the fans making the long but familiar trip from Kingsland, Georgia, here tonight for his home of the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, St Mary's area, the furthest south eastern county basically in Georgia.

But this is pretty much become their second home here.

In fact, both these teams, people were joking around.

Both of them have reserved parking.

They've been here so much over the last decade.

They have a lot of experience here.

So once again, Williams back deep.

He has boots it away and this one is returnable from the one.

Williams trying to make a man misses him, then once again stays on his feet through the 20 yard line.

Here we go away to stay on your feet.

Be evasive.

He could have been hit at the 15 and falling down, but he keeps his feet and gets it to the 20.

That's the type of effort that you need to get you back in the ballgame.

And Harper, I promise our viewers, we will have that Camden starting offensive lineup for you at some point.

Eventually, we're going.

To take the field.

We might have to wait till the second or third quarter.

For Van Brunt back on the field right now.

And, you know, when you look at him, if you see the guy in street clothes walking down the hallway, you probably wouldn't think twice about it.

But he is very slippery.

He's hard to bring down, of course.

Newton learned that last week in the semifinals when Van Brunt kept converting on third down from the ground.

This time, O'Neil, with the carry, will have about three yards.

But will hit a fall off the left side, where O'Neil gets it going off tackle pretty much where the tight end would be able to fall forward for three.

A nice game got to get things started well he again before you pick up on that.

And as you would imagine they do call him the Diesel.

Shaq Diesel.

I guess all the nicknames apply.

You know, he has certainly been the main guy this year offensively.

A little bit fall a foot smaller than the real shell right on the glass, a potent weapon, weapon for north.

Side who just as powerful here second and seven this time fan brought we'll go to the air in and out of the hands of Quint Green.

They intend to target Green Ridley, the leading receiver in this offense, six two £200.

Senior.

Over 20 receptions on the air.

Nice backside throw to Quinn Green Wasn't able to get his arms around it was if it was a backside attempt.

Now, if it was just a little bit behind him as we see him deliver right here, he does get bumped right before he releases it.

Super's got to get their feet squared, turn around and get their hands up to be able to catch up, ball Yeah.

That's a freshman right there.

JJ Green You know, Canada's got some new guys on the roster.

They double up a lot of their numbers, and usually you can pretty much assume it's going to be the junior or senior over the freshman, but not so in that corner spot here.

And this time the shovel pass going.

Nowhere since they have the football and they do at the Northside 20.

Wow Jeremiah Booth with the interception that play blown up inside Northside likes to run that play.

And it's obvious that this time the Wildcats were ready for it and they basically took it.

Right out.

Of the hands of the tight end.

Stephen Cross, who came around.

That is a forward pass, folks, that shuttle pass there, which is a weapon that Northside likes to run from time to time, especially on third and relatively short.

But it backfires on that time.

A big 300 pounder, Jeremiah Booth with I think the second reception or interception of the year.

How about that?

Yeah.

Hey, here's one from earlier in the season.

That's number two.

Like to have seen that big guy in space to see what he could do right there.

And now it's the offense on the field for the first time tonight.

And that's Darius Sullivan getting his.

First carry.

In Wildcat offense on the field with a two touchdown lead already in eight and a half minutes here left in this first quarter.

SULLIVAN Again.

The guy that's not going to get the ball a whole lot of times here, but he gets the first carry of the night.

The majority of the.

Work.

Is going to go to the other backstairs.

Joel Ruiz 21 to 5341, six touchdowns and an interception.

Again, Ruiz, typically a guy that is considered a quarterback that's not going to beat you with his arm, but he does a good job of managing the swing to offense.

And there's Ian Day's fighting in the middle for some extra yardage on second down.

It's going to be third and two.

Days as a go to guy.

But Sullivan, as you were mentioning, Dave, he's one of the toughest guys, Coach Jeff Herron, in an interview that I had with him earlier in the week.

So he's everything that you would want in a football player.

MARTIN The center.

Flanked by Gabriel.

And Els ELDERKIN, Keller and Mercier, the.

Right tackle.

And again Griffiths, the tight steal, the split in Sullivan Bays, the halfbacks and big.

Andre Johnson, the fullback.

This is an offense that features 2000 yard.

Rushers in Johnson and his third down and this time straight ahead Johnson with his first here goal go to punch it forward and he's going to have enough for the first down.

Let's take a look at that north side.

Warner Robins defense.

It crossed the front.

Clark, Chester.

Williams and Billingsley in there.

Big Johns, LeVert and Jackson are the linebackers.

Brown and Williams are the safeties right.

At.

Anderson the corners once again your north side Warrigal defensive lineup first and goal after the gain of.

Three by Johnson.

And everyone in the backfield to touch the ball already And here's Daze with his second.

Kyrie inside the five still on his feet driving and finally.

Hauled down at the three for his second effort days really keeps those legs drive and he's a fun fun guy to watch it really.

Is.

And he takes the ball here.

He lines up as a wing along the left hand side and they've got a strong left formation goes against the grain really to the far side of the field, because he keeps his legs churning, he gains an extra couple of yards.

There he is, six feet, £195.

And this one quickly snapped by that wildcat offense.

But shy of the goal line to bring up third and goal from the one we can look at.

Coach Jeff Herron again, 20th.

Year as a head coach, 10th at Camden County.

His Wildcats have been a playoff team each of.

His first ten years at the school, and that says a lot about his coaching ability and what he's been able to do and coming into this program.

Now for running back Andre Johnson's coming off, looks like he injured his hand on that play.

On balance, left.

Here we go.

Third and go from one end of.

The end zone.

Touchdown, Sullivan!

Sullivan!

With his second carry of the drive, he had the first play.

From scrimmage.

And catch the drive with a one yard plunge.

And it's quickly 20 nothing.

Got a simple three letter word for you, Dave.

Wow.

Wow.

There's 6 minutes and 9 seconds left in Sullivan.

We just talked about him just a few minutes ago.

He's not a key component.

You know, he's only five, six, £170, but he's rushed for over 380 yards and that's his seventh touchdown on the season.

So Matt Haws.

On now for the third time here in this first quarter, eight of ten field goals on the year 49 of 51 Pats and it is through there and good 20.

120 with 609 left in the opening quarter.

You're watching the 29 GHC State Football Championships.

Live on GPB.

We're back in a moment.

Got the scoring.

Drive.

Harper gets six plays.

20 yards, a.

Short field to work with after the turnover it just 237 off the clock sole Bennett with the one yard touchdown is quickly a.

Three possession game.

21 nothing.

And it's an amazing way to start a championship football game but because as you mentioned, it's a short field, you can't at this level give a team like Camden 20 yards to work with an full set of downs.

They're an impressive team so far and they're playing very well.

21 nothing.

Still with 6 minutes and 9 seconds left to go in the first quarter.

Well, that's the good news for Northside.

I mean, it is that early in the game that they've got a chance to really get back in this thing, but they've got to make something happen.

Agreed?

Yeah.

Don't put your tail between your legs.

It's time to come out fighting once again.

Anderson and Williams back deep.

They'll take it to Williams, the excellent return man.

He will take it from his own six bobbles.

It picks it back up at the ten and once again trying to break through a wedge and be dragged down at the 21.

So Northside.

Back on.

Offense here in this first quarter, but they've really been yet to.

Really move the.

Move the football here.

Well, every championship game this.

Weekend is also being.

Streamed live on.

The GPB website.

Log in to GPB Dawgs football and every game will also be archived for viewing in the next few days.

That side once.

Again GPB Dawgs.

Flip Ball and we hope that you'll check in and tune in to see some of these games after the fact.

Chris A lot of people here at the stadium, I like to go back and watch the games after they've been played.

So a great opportunity to do that on the GPB website.

Here's first down going to the air.

Van Brunt and flag comes flying in in midfield.

We may have pass interference on the secondary for Camden, the pass of tinted for Quinn Green.

Yeah, I thought he was going to go underneath.

He had a dig route by the wide receiver that he didn't go for, but he wanted to get the ball outside a nice corner.

It looks like it might be a penalty on Murphy back there.

Good.

Look at our officials here tonight.

Dean Stewart, the man under the white hat, Doug Astor, David Costa Vick, Mickey City, Jeff Williams, Otis Williams and Tyrone Duke, again from the Atlanta Area Football Officials Association, working this five eight game here tonight.

Sometimes something like a penalty, like what just happened here could be a little bit of a hitch and you're getting up to get you going.

Fall at the 36 for north side again the Eagles with 67 wins in the.

Last 71 games five title.

Games all together this decade of course the two state titles coming in oh six and oh seven both of those.

And for a north side, of course, playing as a58 contender here tonight, another.

Long pass and this one complete nice wow.

Great pass into the arms of cross still on his feet wrestling guys still going Works his way to the 25 Wow I never thought he was going to go down Stephen Cross The big tight end provides a big target.

You see crosses, numbers.

There's just a sophomore, 11 receptions, one.

Hundred and 60 yards, 14 and a half a reception.

He's only five foot nine, but he weighs £200 and watch him.

Nobody's going to take him down right here.

He's got a couple opportunities to get some extra yards.

There's one that misses him.

There's two keeps his feet churning.

Look at that fight.

Three, four, five, six guys to bring him down.

Great play by Stefan Cross.

Well, this Northside team is not going to go quiet.

Hammond really didn't have bad coverage on the play.

Just got to get his head around right on the ball.

Absolutely.

Dave Yeah.

Not much he could do about that.

39 yards on the.

Play and a timeout going to be called.

By the Wildcats defense with 523.

Left here in this opening quarter.

That's exactly what the doctor ordered for this eagle offense.

Yeah, a couple of big plays, a penalty, just something to get them over.

And you know, when they took that kick off and they dropped it, sometimes that's just what you need, really, because it creates a separation and a gap in the coverage that if you were to hit it normally, it wouldn't be there.

But if you delay it because you have to pick up the ball, something good can happen out of that.

They got it on the 21.

A big penalty now, a big play here.

And they're knocking on the door from the 25 yard line.

You look at the fans in the house right here, of course, fired up.

Of course, Camden County making the long trip, as we mentioned, of course, Northside coming up from Warner Robins, straight up the great shot there.

And of course, want to welcome all the folks in the house here tonight.

Well, tune in to GPB on Christmas Eve for an evening full of music and songs of the season.

It's Faith Hill's Joy to the World.

The festivities begin Christmas Eve at 8:00, only on GPB once.

The good faith feels joy to the world.

It's got a great singing voice right here.

We know you're going to enjoy that.

It's Camden singing joy to the football world right now.

I don't what they're being threatened for the first time here tonight.

GPB with some great holiday programing.

I want to encourage folks to keep it right here.

Even after these GHC State Football Championships this weekend.

So here we go first.

Down once again to pass.

And the intended target that time was Shaquille O'Neal out of the backfield but lost his footing.

Running a little flair where he has it from, really right next to Van Brunt, gets through the line of scrimmage and just breaks it out.

Ball was a little overthrown and I think he got his feet caught up in the turf here.

Watch him.

As you see when he turns, he's open for a few seconds, but that ball just overthrown.

Doesn't have a chance to catch it.

You're talking Harper in the pre game about these two teams.

Being here and.

Being very familiar with the esthetics here.

Both these teams, of course, are nationally ranked in several publications and we'll talk about that after the second down.

Players Van Brunt once again firing into the middle of the field, in and out of the hands of the intended target.

And that was Andre Smith, number 15.

Smith, an honor student, was excellent in the classroom and has also been equally as impressive on the field this year.

But unable to haul that one, he.

Is running a dig route.

He was started way over by where the numbers are on the left hand side, got to about the ten yard line and broke it right across the field.

The ball hit, his hands just went right through it and he sure paid for it.

They're all for two tonight on third down conversions.

So here's a big third down.

Of course, both these teams first outright.

Fourth nationally and.

Rival as high as top 100 USA Today has came in 15th in the country and here's third down fires a shot that when bounced up in the air and unable to get it off the deflection was Quin Green who had a chance at it was intended for Quinn.

Lester.

But that was knocked away and a third down in all.

Three quarters there.

Great coverage.

How quick do they close on the ball?

Well, thrown ball gets to him.

He would have been open but right there he didn't get his hands on it.

See, it hit him in the face mask.

A lot of times it's tough for guys because the speed of the game go in and they got to get settle down.

A little bit.

So here's Devin.

Fike for a 42 yard.

Field goal attempt from the near hash and he's got the distance.

He hit one earlier this year from about the same distance.

Plenty of leg on that one right down.

The pipe.

Or pica, I guess we should say.

Devin Pike between through the.

Soccer kicker and Pike has the Eagles on the board at 21 to 3.

So at least they.

Got something out of that drive.

Harper Referee That's.

That's some production.

I'll take it as a small win right now hit that ball would have been good from about 1015 extra yards as high as it hit on the net there.

This guy's got a strong leg.

Now, of course.

Last year, state Champs Wesleyan in single-A.

Buford, of course, that one yesterday captured their third title in as many years.

Crowe, Of course, TUCKER And Foray and of course, these Wildcats here and five here tonight back in the title game, of course, they were undefeated last year, 15 and oh, twice beaten this year.

But right back here, the championship once again.

All right.

So Buford and Camden now Buford already done it back to back champions.

Camden has a chance to do so tonight.

Jeff Aaron, of course, his mentor, Jimmy Dorsey at McEachern knows a little something about the 20, their worst coach here and coached at North Georgia for a few years prior to heading south coached did Oconee County won a championship but a Tony County has take it a couple of different teams to the semis here in Camden and Oconee also coached it nearby Wheeler and Walton dropped down JJ GREENE and he days back deep for the Wildcats as Pike gets set to boot it away.

Interesting formation.

They brought all ten guys right behind the kicker.

They'll spread from that.

But you have to honor it because they could do an onside kick.

And you can see how the Wildcats line up as well there along the front.

Yeah.

You have to guard again.

Never know.

Yep.

Both his teams have been excellent throughout the last ten years.

As we've talked about, 12 consecutive seasons of ten plus wins for the Northside Warner Robins Eagles.

That is absolutely remarkable.

With that kick from Pike, five yards deep in the end zone and JJ GREENE unable to return that one.

And Camden will actually have to start from some conventional yardage here at their own 20 yard line.

Yeah, he's got a big league leg.

Does Pike get the ball that deep into the end zone and do it as consistently as he has?

I mean, he's got a great punting average and he's excellent on kickoffs and extra points.

Chris Camden coming off a big win last week over Colquitt County, 19 to 10.

As you see that last scoring drive, five plays, 54 yards, a little over a minute, off the clock in that 42 yard field goal to get the Eagles on the board.

Meanwhile, north side, of course, with a emotional win there over Newton 2924.

And it, of course, was the last unbeaten five school in the state.

Quick drive to only took him in at nine.

On offense years days try to find a little bit of breathing room over there on the right side.

Tackle by Rashad right.

They still have six seven yards there maybe even more on first down to see right defensively making the stop right of course a senior in that backfield has really done an excellent job.

Five 1170 £5 senior.

A couple of different ways to run that outside pitch, that toss with the pitch or whether it be a buck sweep is what they call it, regular handoff, different ways to get to the same spot.

They're as hands off, straight up the middle.

Johnson, the big fullback, driving towards that first down marker and with the spot, I believe he's got it.

We talked about this Camden offense.

They've been impressive, averaging 38 and a half points a game throughout the season and they haven't trailed off too much of the postseason, averaging almost 27 points a game.

Defensively, though, they have been magnificent, allowing just eight and a half points a game.

And that is really a kind of take the pressure off of Ruiz and some of these guys here on this offensive side to make plays.

Yeah, they're stout up front offensively.

And when you get a lead like this are probably just going to sit on that clock and just keep the chains moving.

Right sideways, has some real estate and then driven.

Backwards.

And there's a lot of bodies going in in their big number 99.

Troy Williams, a guy to watch here tonight along the front for that northside defense at six foot one £270.

He looks a little bit bigger than that, if you ask me.

But yeah, he had the brunt of the load there on end days.

He's probably had a healthy Thanksgiving because he was a little heavier than 260.

But you know what?

He's a big athlete, big, strong kid and a great defensive lineman has a chance to go on.

He's only a junior.

They always Jackson also in on that last tackle as well.

So second down and six up coming right here for the Wildcats.

Defensively, Northside is only allowed 12 and a half points a game 16.2 in the postseason, no shutouts on the year, which is impressive, but teams haven't scored a lot.

This one down the field had a man open momentarily, but over through the end days out of the backfield was the intended target and it will be third down.

That was unusual right there.

Yes, it was.

I didn't go to the ball.

I didn't know what to say.

Yeah, I was talking to a mr.

Outlaw, the play by play announcer for Camden County Radio.

He was telling me that statistic.

Lee Jarman throws the ball .00 of 9%, not even 1% of the time they throw the football.

So I wasn't sure what was going to happen there.

Jeff Aaron told me earlier in the week, because we throw when we want to throw, not when we have to throw the ball.

So I guess we saw something there in the coverage.

When you get nine, ten.

11 in the box.

Well, here's third and six right here.

They'll keep it on the ground this time, two well shy of the first down marker by about three yards.

So fourth and three up coming in a nice job by that able defense.

Anfernee Chatfield number 55 one of the first guys there on the stop for that eagle defense.

Yeah good reaction here by the folks on our near sideline from north side they're wanting their team to get back in this ballgame.

We haven't lined the punter.

Yeah, they're going to just shift everybody out.

That's an interesting move here where you got the entire puck team that's going to be on the sideline.

You shift them out after the play is blown in by the referee.

Bryson Williams back for North Side will field it at his own 22, trying to make it back to the wall.

But won't get there.

Great tackle.

On special teams coming down by big number.

64.

Great job there by Delvin Cousins for laughter.

Opening your presence on Christmas Day.

Check in with Gp-B to see how the holiday.

Celebrated on the other side of the clock.

Rick Steves European Christmas.

Will bring you a variety of holiday traditions from all over the globe.

Join us Christmas Day at 7 p.m. right here and only on GPB.

A lot of traditions, of course, this time of year with Steve's European Christmas taking inside some of the ways other folks around the world celebrate the spectacular.

Got a man, oh, wide open down the sideline but overshot the intended target right there.

Cottrell Brooks.

The six foot five £180 sophomore, was open.

He'd beaten his man there and he had a step on him.

Van Brunt was just a little bit too excited about that.

He take a little bit off that and we're talking about a whole different ballgame now.

Here's the Eagle mascot there.

A lot of representation there on the sideline here tonight, incomplete past second and ten.

You know, the thing about Northside, though, you know, 207 still here in this first quarter.

They're not going to get it all in one play.

You're at a point in the game really where you could stay in your offense and that's how to do anything any different.

Yeah, absolutely.

Let's just take it.

The elephant, one step, one bite at a time.

And Ronto stacked up this time right up to 25.

That's going to be a loss of one Derek Salisbury making the stop Salisbury be a big guy up front and yep nicknamed steak as we mentioned there, you're going to look at his numbers on the year 38 tackles seven for a loss of four sacks for the big senior.

He's a fast guy.

He had a great game against North Gwinnett.

A couple of sacks against them in a shutout victory in round number three of the playoffs.

Big defensive end and he's only got room to grow He may have a chance next year to end up playing for a scholarship.

You know, when you look at this wildcat front, they got Bruce in the middle.

And when you got a big guy like that, that's 302.

He got Salisbury up there.

And you've got you've also got Jackson up there really allows.

Those five guys as.

Linebackers of two ponies to really fly around it and make plays.

And there you go.

When you can.

Contain guys with those front three.

It really opens things up.

Well, when you've got that three, three, like what they incorporate here and you can blitz one or two and put pressure on your opponent to where he doesn't know where the blitz is coming from.

And then when it does come, you get results like this.

Then it allows your secondary to play more smoothly and to force the action back to the quarterback.

And in this case, Van Booth gets a Van Brown excuse me, gets sacked.

Salisbury with back to back tackles right there this one bringing down Van Brunt fourth down now and Pikiell booted away special teams one kickoff return for a touchdown and a punt already for a touchdown here tonight.

Murphy and Shaquan Brock are back deep, this time for the Wildcats.

Murphy, of course, had the punt return earlier in the quarter.

And here is Murphy once again.

He's got room, got a little bit of room.

If he can bounce it to the outside or side, will cover him up.

This time, looking for those legs, driving a late penalty flag comes flying in.

We may have a facemask now.

He caught the ball over here near the sideline about the 40, 45 yard line.

And it's 53 and a third yards.

I mean, he went 60 yards to gain maybe about ten or 12.

But what they're doing is they're making North Side have to run all over the field to try to get him because he could have picked his poison.

He could have gone in between the hashes down the middle or up where the numbers were.

And he ended up going outside.

Great special teams play so far.

They've really been effective with the way that they've been able to transition the ball and move it down the field.

And they're already going to have good field position any way tackle the penalty and it's really going to be in there deep.

Here's Dean Stewart once again, our referee.

During the return of a personal foul facemask on the defense 15 yards from the end of the run, first down.

So that'll put this ball well inside the 30 going to market about 28 and a half right here for the Camden offense.

He will once again have a short field to work with, as they did on their last touchdown, just a 20 yard drive.

Sullivan, of course, capped it with a one yard plunge there over the left side of that offensive line.

And so Northside, once again, the the defense is going to have to try to dig in here first and ten for the Wildcats again that Northside defense playing five across the front right here.

Kevin Kinsler of course the defensive coordinator for North Side, Welton Coffey, the offensive coordinator for Camden County.

24 assistant coaches on this Camden team.

Large amazing staff.

In the state.

Yeah, there he is Sullivan with that last he picked up pretty good yardage there on first down and too quickly up to the line in the first quarter is winding down and I believe that's going to do it.

Wildcats won't run another play.

So after one Camden County 21 to 3 over Northside, you're watching the 29 GHC State Football Championships on GPB quarter two.

Back when we return 21 three.

The score.

As we get set to start.

Quarter number two from inside the Georgia Dome Dave Garner, Harper LaBelle, Jerrod Oliveira on the sideline with us tonight along with the rest of the Gp-B team.

I want to thank you for tuning in once again, game five of five this weekend right here from the Dome, Camden County with a 21 three lead trying to make it back to back championships here in 2009.

And they've got the ball once again in North Side territory.

That's Andre Johnson, big full back and it was Jackson with the tackle defensively for the Eagles Harper that first quarter belonging to Camden and a lot of it because of their average starting position their own 48 as opposed to the Eagles own 18.

Makes a huge difference from where you start.

Camden County obviously getting it on a couple of occasions and when you average it out, that makes it really easy for you to score.

But those special teams plays were also key components.

Big third down and three right here.

And Joel Ruiz, the quarterback under center and this time going to.

Hand it daze right side.

Check that that's Johnson there at the 20 and it looks like going to be a little shy of the first down Jackson and Lockett combining for the tackle you look at Johnson of course one of those 2000 yard rushers in this Camden offense, you see Johnson going out a lineup right here on fourth down.

It looks like the Wildcats are going to go for right here.

Keep that offense on the field.

They need a yard.

Yard and a half.

Of the first down, fourth and a long one.

Fake number 77 is lined up in the backfield to be a lead blocker for Camden.

Now he splits out to become a wingman.

Big play right here, particularly for that Northside Eagle defense.

Here's days.

Left side driving.

And it's going to be close.

It might depend on the spot right here and we may have to bring the chains across.

Had to get inside the 19 and.

And boy, it's going to be going to be right there.

Josh ELDERKIN is going to pull here, see him make some headway trying to get a hold of Troy Williams to get him out of the way.

Greg Clark bringing.

The chains out.

It looks like.

Clark helped to make the a stop right there.

Clark six for 305.

This defensive front for Warner Robins is pretty big, but so is the, you know, cam, an offensive line?

Certainly no slouch.

You got Barton up to 40.

Three.

Short and they did not get it.

So what a stop right there, Harper, for that Eagle defense.

And boy, that's really what they needed right there.

They could not afford to go down another score here this early in the game.

I don't think one bite at a time.

I'll take that as another small win a little victory that says hey we stopped them deep in our own territory now we take over first and ten.

They're able to put a nice drive here.

That could be a momentum changer for me.

Getting back in the ballgame.

North Side offensively averaging 27 points a game throughout the season.

So certainly not a dominating type of offense, but they play well enough to win.

They've got an excellent defense.

And here you see O'Neal driving those legs across the 25.

Still going, wow, great.

Second and third effort.

By Shaquille O'Neal.

And he takes it all the way up to the 27, about a yard shy of the first down.

I'm sure while the defense is out there, the offense is going, hey, let's put it on my back.

Watch him.

Shaquille takes along the right hand side, hit there, keeps his feet moving.

Two or three other guys miss him.

Four or five.

He spins, he gets hit some more and falls forward for a seven yard gain good for good job for him.

Zach Marks the free safety finally had to bring him down.

Roger Van Brunt again under center.

Now they're going to keep it on the ground.

Here's O'Neal once again.

Tripped up, stays on his feet, does show some good balance, but not much there.

He's going to be shy of the first down and bring up third down.

Really did if we get to see this one again, watch the scissors move while he's up in the air.

Great job by him to keep his balance, though.

There's a whistle.

I thought it might have been a little bit early.

Watch and he'll take the handoff here and go the right side behind the tight end.

The tackler you go up, he hit his knee and that's what it was.

He might have got past for the first down.

935 left here in the second quarter.

We've got a timeout on the field and north side offense wanting to talk this thing over right here and see what they're going to do here at the third one.

While they do, that will step aside as well.

Be right back.

Live to the Georgia Dome 21 three.

You're watching the 29 GHC State Football Championships on GPB.

Welcome back to the Georgia Dome 21 three Camden County with the lead over North Side Warner Robins in.

This five state.

Championship football game here at the Georgia.

This crowd.

Is rockin.

Good crowd here tonight as the folks have traveled up from Warner Robins and also made the long trip from Kingsland.

Here is third down and short and the Northside offense is going to be denied.

It looks like that's on.

They went back to O'Neill, who's been on the ground.

Three straight.

Runs here.

But Thacker came up there and made a big stop, it looks like, and may have even lost a half yard on that play.

Yeah.

He blitzed through the line of scrimmage and got into the backfield, was able to hit O'Neill for what appears to be a loss.

Willie Sack for 56 tackles on the air.

The big one, a big interception got a couple of sacks as well so he can get around the football fourth down.

Coach Conrad Nix again steering his offense in the eyes right there.

There's a reason why he's been so successful.

He knows how to motivate these guys.

24 years.

At North Side as a head coach in two different stints, coached earlier back and from 73 to 80 for eight years and then came back to the program in 94 and has been there ever since.

So here's Devin Pike.

Oh, boy.

Nice looking punt right here.

And that's Shaquan.

Brock on the return.

Still on his feet, driving up across to the 45.

He goes.

And once again the Wildcats will have pretty good field position.

Excellent punt, great hangtime give you guys a chance to get down the field and to make a play.

Back in 2007, boy, I just got to tell you, it's nice to be here in the dome and there's a reason for it because a couple of years ago, this was.

The scene.

In Valdosta, the towns of Forrest, North, Gwinnett and Blount, tangling for the five.

State title game.

In a torrential downpour.

Of course, Lance would go on to win the game.

But boy, I tell you what, it was a tidal wave that night.

Was out there in that.

I'm up there.

So between C.J.

and.

T.J. Jones and myself, and we didn't have it near as bad as the rest of the GPB crew.

But I'd say it's it's definitely great to have the games here in the dome.

You know, you not have to worry about the the the elements.

The elements.

Yeah.

So for the heavy rain, that kind of stings you on the back of your neck while you're.

Doing the broadcast.

Yeah.

And it's raining outside right now.

That's why we show you that video, because things are mighty nice indoors here tonight.

A lot of rain expected around the Atlanta area through the evening and otherwise, these two teams right here would be sloshing around in the mud.

This conceptual idea of actually bringing in a dome that has a retractable roof to replace this building, which is only 20, what, 22 years old?

Ten meter?

No, not even 20 years.

Excuse me, 92 is a first year.

Second at five.

Right here.

For the Wildcats ball right at the midfield straight Camden leading 21, three, two Grizz looking over at the sideline right here getting the play and going to hand it to Sullivan, who had that one yard touchdown while ago, will pick up a couple.

It will be third and two.

Harper, you played in this building.

Now, what is the experience like compared to maybe some of the other venues that you played in, whether it be College Pro?

Well, when I first got to the Atlanta Falcons, we played outside at the old Fulton County Stadium and they got rid of that and put us here.

First thing I thought of is it's almost so comfortable that the folks, the fans that normally would be a little rowdy just sit back and enjoy it.

So there's a little reason to be skeptical about making them too comfortable.

But great building and a lot of wonderful football that I got a chance to be a part of here.

And the state championship is just another level.

It just makes it easy for people to come.

Here's third and do.

And razz looking to throw.

The football down the field has a man.

Off the fingertips of the intended target.

And that was C.J.

DeBoer lobs up at tight end right there and just couldn't haul that pass in or out.

Had pretty good coverage on it, but they would have had a chance.

Who has put that ball in there?

That's two passes now that we've seen where when you averaged less than one third.

Yeah, exactly.

And watch the hit late on the ball right here.

Bam.

Right.

So Williams, a tough kid.

He gets up because I should have had force as a punt here.

And a brown in there to boot it away.

And this is Williams, who will field it at Austin.

He's got some room trying to hit the corner right here and not much there at all.

Good tackle on special teams.

Good containment by Camden.

And so Northside will take back over to Williams, the excellent player headed to South Carolina.

Well, this.

Christmas let GPB take you on a journey to the wild side.

A wilderness.

Pure as the driven snow, you'll be awed by the beauty of nature's Christmas in Yellowstone.

Sunday, December 20th.

At 8 p.m., right here.

On GPB.

I know you're kind of you're from out west.

Do you ever experience Yellowstone?

No.

I wish I could have, though.

That next step up.

Coloradoans don't like to go to Wyoming too much.

There you go.

Van Brunt right here.

First pass, going up top, has a man a little bit too tall and fragile.

BROOKS The sophomore.

Receiver, won a penalty marker.

JJ Green The freshman corner was locked up with them.

They're pretty good.

Maybe some incidental contact.

No penalty flag.

Yeah, they looked that.

I see it.

Maybe most of the Northside folks are thinking that JJ may have grabbed Green there a little bit and kind of held him back, and we'll just leave it where it is right now.

That was a good attempt, and that would have, if he makes a catch right there, a big play and gets Warner right back in the ballgame with great field position.

Eagle faithful want the penalty marker right there you know you talk about these two teams and the athletes they've turned out of course, four NFL players have come out of Camden County.

You see Van Brunt number so far in the ball game, struggling a little bit through the air this two of nine and this time they'll keep it on the ground O'Neale trying to turn the corner He's got some room.

Watch out O'Neale off to the races.

Up to the 48 he goes and a big play right there for that side Warner Robins eagerly for offense.

Stephen Murphy Oh yeah, he gets the ball off the.

Handoff and takes it across the left side and there's finally a hole for him.

Great job by the left side, able to get up to the next level, look at him.

He ends up getting to the outside dances along just like what the opening kickoff was.

A lineman getting a little set up, a little slow for Camden, I believe that was number nine.

And on Byron Attaway was a big 300 pounder and he almost caught up with the big Shaquille O'Neal.

That was good hustle there by the big man.

I noticed that, too.

And it looks like we got a time out of the field called by the Wildcats defensively right here.

They want to talk things over 617 left in the half and I'm sure coach here and wants to remind his team they don't want to do anything to let this nearside team have any kind of momentum going into the locker room.

Yeah, I agree with you.

Let's get our bearing straight here.

Let's call a timeout.

This isn't a bad one, especially when you're up by 18 points, the way it turns out.

And here, in order to just kind of quell the momentum here that they're trying to game, you did make a mention earlier of Bravo and Brown was two for not.

Go ahead.

Oh, well, we need viewers like you to help support the live broadcast of these games.

And you can show your support by becoming a member of Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Simply call one of the numbers.

On your screen or visit our.

Website.

At npr.org.

And thank you very much for supporting Georgia Public Broadcasting.

You can call those numbers right there.

Become a member.

You get a couple of you usually get some goodies in addition to the programing.

Of course, that's on GPB.

I like goodies.

Those are good.

Yeah.

And of course, you also get to continue to watch great high school football games like we've seen this weekend at the Dome and for high school basketball as well.

In March.

Always fun to have the championships as well.

I want to curse folks to become members and keep it on the air.

So after the big play in the Camden time out northside with the football at.

Their own 48 and on the move.

Single coverage way up top.

Here's O'Neal on the ground.

Hit and dropped immediately.

Great job right there.

Glynn Mack, the guy we focused on up top of the broadcast tonight.

That's another one of those tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Make that number eight for him.

Now, statistically, for the season, he came in through the blitz and was untouched.

He will get a hold of the running back.

That's Shaquille O'Neal getting the ball and getting met by Mr. Mack right there for a two yard loss.

You see him, he's not the biggest guy.

But boy, a lot of these guys that aren't as big, they make up for it with amazing speed.

These guys are conditioning all season long.

They're in great shape and they're big, fast guys.

They get across the line of scrimmage in a hurry.

Second and 12 after the two guard loss.

And this time, Van Brunt looking to throw now.

Under pressure or go down.

Back at the 39 big play right there.

And that is Byron Attaway, number 99, who we saw nearly chased down O'Neal a while ago down the sideline.

The big man this time gets a big rush, pulls down Van Brunt for a big loss.

Play action pass that was really designed to go downfield for Bryson and Williams.

He was running a post route, had double coverage on him and again some extra time Von Braun held onto the ball just a little bit too long.

And that's going to be costly for another big loss.

So third and.

18.

Right here, again, the rematch of last year's second round game.

Of course, these two tangled last year in round two.

And it was Camden coming away with their only victory in the series 2820.

So North Sides got that on the back of their mind coming in this ballgame here tonight.

These two programs have met four times in their history with Northside leading 2 to 1 and movement up front.

And I believe that one is going to go against Brandon Stephens, the big senior tackle.

Brandon did a little bit of a jumping jack there right before the ball was snapped.

Line judge saw it.

Here's a call.

Dead ball, foul start on the offense five yards from the previous spot.

I mean, third down.

So third and 18 becomes third and 23 with 443 left here in the half.

And now Northside going backwards right here.

And they certainly don't want to give the ball back to Camden in any kind of field position right here.

If they can help it.

They may run a draw or a screen or something like that, just to get as much of that big chunk of yardage that you need.

21 yards is a lot to get on one play.

Here's Van Brunt to throw long down the field has a man that's Williams and nearly intercepted and if anything nice coverage right there by the free safety Zach Marks he rolled over the top it was in position.

Von Brunn a little upset with himself that ball was overthrown.

He hasn't really settled in.

He's, what, two for nine?

Just a few moments ago when we showed those statistics and he's a good quarterback, he's got some great momentum and he's really good with his feet.

Just needs to settle down here because this is his first chance to play for a state championship bracket.

MURPHY Back deep there, you get a look at Devin Pike, the excellent place kicker and punter for Northside and the low line of right here returnable for Murphy who fields it at after 29 trying to make a move great open field tackle by Williams Bryson Williams So we've talked about one of the best athletes on the field, arguably the best, and he showed that he could do it.

All right.

Their offense, defense and special teams, great coverage.

They're a guy that plays defense and knows how to attack and he's going to come off the field here in just a second.

He may have slightly hurt himself, but on a low line kick like that, you make it much more difficult on your coverage.

Let's check in with Gerald Oliviera on the sideline.

Gerald, what do you got for us?

A day for you, Harper, and all the football fanatics out there.

And yes, we know you're out there.

You don't want to miss the 400th edition of Prep Sports.

Plus, we're going to have a complete review of the 2009 GHC Football action.

So make sure you join us.

Georgia's high school Weekly's longest running academic in sports program next Thursday, 7:30 p.m., exclusively on GPB.

All right.

Thank you, Gerald.

Yeah, I can't believe it's been 400 episodes already.

That's just amazing, right there to see Andre Johnson with the carry picks up a few yards there.

But yeah, 400 credit.

Tom Fuentes and his crew and of course, the longest running high school academics.

You know, it's great to have a program that focuses on athletics, academics and really featuring kids at the high school level and keeping everything positive.

And at this level, that's what it's all about.

State wide.

Yeah, I'm I'm not smart enough to figure how many weeks 400 works out to, but that's a long, long time I saw close to a decade.

Your second down and seven and not much happening right here except for that Northside Eagle defense Ian Cunningham 56 into the lineup he splits time up front there with Billingsley at defensive tackle and Cunningham was the first guy there.

In a lot of Navy jerseys there met him at the line of scrimmage and you homicide's defense guy got a battle cry right now they're trying to pick it up, get the ball back so that they can help this team get back in position to be in the ballgame.

And as I mentioned, these two these two teams right here have only met four times versus either has really been a member of for a for a long time.

Cam has been in five.

Yeah, that's a great point, Dave.

The fact that they like each other and respect each other enough to wear the classification doesn't mean all that much.

And up the middle.

All big first down conversion right.

Here up to midfield off the quick.

Hitter Ian days.

Wow so some explosion right there 36 a lot of confidence in that Camden offense to keep it on the ground right up the middle.

Watch a little razzle dazzle right here.

You're going to fake the handoff one way and then you're going to give it today's Who's Coming From a Different Direction.

Now, I almost lost a couple of yards past the line of scrimmage, but he was athletic enough to not only keep it, but get the ball right near the 50 yard line with a straight arm as he goes down.

Nice job by Ian days.

Seven all state players in 2008 for Cam you see days rushing number seven of 40 days all state player this year in 2009 along with teammates Booth and Jackson and this time Sullivan trying to wrestle his way to yardage Jackson making the stop very little on that play if anything as we near the two minute mark here before the half.

So a little bit of razzle dazzle on that last play.

And then here, just basic football.

Let's go run it off left tackle a low you to sleep and then they run a little bit of a tricky play.

You get a big first down and then they go back to their basics and their basic is running that Delaware wing to a precision.

Second down and nine straight off the middle.

This is Johnson driving to the north side 45.

It'll bring a third down at about four.

Two straight up the gut there.

What Johnson had two or three guys try to hang on to him, try to pull him down.

The North Side's got to make some big plays here.

Be big for them.

If they were able to pop the ball out loose and get a turnover here before the half.

Philip Jones with the last stop right there.

Both these teams with a couple of common opponents this year and Colquitt and Towns and both teams basically duplicating the same feat, both with a three point win over lions.

This year, you see third down conversions tonight, three of six, 50% for the Wildcats.

I've got another one up coming right here.

Both teams also defeating Colquitt.

Of course, that was the semifinal opponent last week for this Wildcat team.

They've had to play three different members of Region.

One.

Throughout the playoffs.

Lose round to Colquitt last week and for north side here tonight they will have earned it if they can make it two in a row.

And here it is straight ahead.

And the left side right there, a couple of yards, looks like they're going to be just shy of the first down, so forth and short right here at inside a minute.

Yeah, kind of interesting how the brackets work out to make that scenario that you just went over who the opponents are for Camden, how that works out.

But really, it's a testament to how that region, how good they are and how they keep winning except when they play each other here in the playoffs.

And right now, it looks like it's Camden's year.

They've obviously proved it by getting here and it's fourth and one.

They're going to shift out of their regular offense and bring in the special teams unit.

Which you're not want to take any chances right here before the half and your side will burn a time out where they'll save themselves a little bit of time here to get the football.

And who knows, maybe rattle off a big play again, trailing 21 three trying to make something happen.

They've got an excellent special teams group here, so who knows?

Well, we've seen Bryson Williams.

But here's where we started yesterday with the two way championship, and it was Buford winning for the third straight year over, Calhoun 13 to 10, a very well-played ball game between two good football teams there.

And of course, that was followed up by the for a title game last night and it was Sandy Creek 29 to 15 over Clark Central as Sandy Creek captured their first ever state title.

And of course, earlier today, a good one at single-A Wilcox County, the patriots 3021 over Savannah Christian that's a game really much closer than that nine point score indicates right there.

Very good ball game, of course, just a moment ago, a true classic between Peach County and Gainesville, 1312.

Gainesville had a shot at a two point play to win it with no time on the clock.

And the two point play was stopped by Beech County.

The Trojans captured a state title, and we can only hope that maybe this game will come down to the wire in the second half.

Well, we started out with some excitement that ended up that Gainesville Peach County game.

It was just an amazing game.

We've had some great.

Games.

All weekend.

Well, there's some great football being played all throughout the state and it's a great way for us to be able to celebrate it by having it here in Georgia.

After the time out.

Camden, of course, left the offense on the momentarily just to sprint.

The punt team on.

An out penalty marker comes in.

Especially after a time out.

You hate to see a delay of the game penalty, but it looks like that's what might be pushing back five yards and give em a little extra room to kick the ball and try to down it inside the 20.

Dead ball false start on offense.

I've got a penalty remain for now.

Indeed Stuart our referee here tonight.

We're kind of in that tweener area where it's a little too far for your field goal kicker.

And with as good a punter as Camden has, you want to give him a little extra time to try to pin more side.

Deep inside there may be ten that would be a goal for them to try to do that with 28 seconds left to go in the half.

We talked about this Camden offense, of course, last week against Cork with a racked up 396 rushing yards.

Johnson had 245 of it and he's also over 101 35.

And it looks like we're going to keep an offense on the field right here.

They're showing plot formation, but the quarterback's going under center.

So fourth down, going to back him up right here.

They're going to keep it.

On the ground, are going to be stopped.

Well, shy, the first down, a marker.

Down at the 47.

So let's check the penalty mark three ian days with the carry and boy interesting formation right there.

Yeah that's one of those Phil Purcell Bill Belichick type moves back when they were fourth with the Giants.

It didn't matter where they were, they were always going to try something on fourth down.

Obviously, they may have seen something in your side and try to get them in a position where if they had their special teams return, guys, it would have been a competitive advantage.

My little guys against the big guys didn't turn out that way.

On the play, you often had ten men on the field, but seven were on the line of scrimmage.

The ball goes over to Norfolk.

So the Eagles will take over here with 24 seconds left in the half and now they got good field position to work with.

No harm, no foul.

That's the of penalty that North Side needs right now but yeah a 24 seconds try to get it down.

They've got a great kicker so if you can get it inside the 30, you may have a chance to put a score together.

Brian Van Brunt knocked out of the quarterfinal.

Game against Peachtree.

Ridge.

Dan, the stellar team in pinch hit did well, but Van brought return last week in the semifinals and had a remarkable game.

And now he.

Is trying to rally his team back into it.

Long past he had.

Them in open.

Quinn Green at the 20 year pass was just a little bit wide and out of bounds.

Van front, though, very gutsy effort.

Last week, eight of 12 passing for 76 yards, but 141 yards rushing with several big third down conversions, a 13 play drive to seal the deal in that win over Newton 2924.

Yeah that drive late in the game really as you said sealed the deal.

It helped them to get to where they are right now.

And I'm sure Brian would like to have a couple of these passes back.

He's not missing by much, but he's just enough to where it's not being effective right now in some of these big plays that they're trying.

I'm sure with now 17 seconds left, they're going to try it again.

Second and ten twins near side out of the gun once again, Van Brunt this time.

Being pressured.

And will head to the sideline and we'll go out.

The clock will stop with 9 seconds left.

And there's Van Brunt showing you what he could do with his legs in space.

Yeah, I don't mind that, Kerry right now, he got the ball at about the 43 yard line.

I wish there was a little more time on the clock for him because two more plays, I think they may have a chance, but right now they're just limited with what they're able to do right now.

You'll see.

He'll take a look at the pressure up the middle.

Forces him out of the pocket, which really changes your route and the angle to try to receive or get the ball to your receivers.

And don't forget, you got.

Devin Packer over there an excellent place quicker.

I don't know if this is quite in his range right here, but if they pick up something, they might have a shot at that pass wide and incomplete, second and ten.

Now you're down to 6 seconds intended for Andre Smith.

We talked about Smith being an honor roll student, a great receiving corps for this north side offense.

They block more than anything, but when they're called upon, they step up and make big plays green.

Williams.

Brooks I don't think they block as much as the Camden County receiver.

Yeah.

But again, it's its run first.

It's the philosophy that Conrad Nix has put together for decades, and it makes it a little more elusive for that.

You never know when you're going to be.

If you're covering one of these guys, you don't know when they're going to be catching the ball.

Second and ten Van Brunt with time looking.

Firing down the field has a man there.

It's going to be knocked away.

And nearly intercepted at the one.

And there is no time on the clock.

And that's the way the first half answer inside the Georgia Dome.

21 to 3, our halftime scorer, it's the Camden County Wildcats leading.

Coming up, the Marching Wildcats, the Northside Blue and Band principal is first half highlights and the Georgia EMC halftime stats.

Now let's go downstairs.

Gerald Oliver standing by with the coach.

Gerald Dave, I'm here with coach here in Northside had some big opportunities in the passing game just hasn't connected yet what are you going to do to make sure they don't in the second half?

Well, we've got a young secondary and, you know, we got to calm them down a little bit.

The game did not go like we thought it would go and everybody's emotions is going a little crazy on us.

So we just got to settle down and we didn't play real well.

We had some big plays in the kicking game, but I don't think we played as well offensively as were capable and I certainly have coach very well as a witness well that last exhibition, but we'll try to fix that at halftime.

And what made you decide not to put it on that last?

Well, they had their punt block team out there and we felt like a momentum change as they block a punt was a very good at and we also thought Ian would pick up a first down, but we didn't get it all.

Well, good luck in the second half, Coach.

Back up to you, Dave.

All right.

Thank you, Gerald.

Halftime in Atlanta.

You're watching the two.

Thousand nine GHC State Football Championships on GPB.

We're back with halftime festivities in a moment.

Select the movies.

Movies you like, you move it.

I like to move it.

Move it, move it, move it, move it.

Damn.

The county leading at 21 three.

At the break, you're inside the Georgia Dome.

As we turn our attention to the field and her halftime performance from the Camden County High School Marching.

Wildcats, the band director is Alan Smith.

Drum major, Samantha, go in.

And Evan Schrader, 180 members strong with their performance titled Marching Band Medley from Drumline.

Let's go ahead and listen in for the Marching Wildcats.

Entertaining here at halftime.

Now let's go downstairs.

Gerald Oliver is.

Standing by with some special guests.

Gerald it away.

That's right, guests as in Flora.

I'm here with Dr. John Tucker from Camden County.

Now, also, who do you have with us today?

I've got my three children.

This is Hudson.

I and Marie and Elise, and we're out here enjoying the band right now.

I understand the band went out to Philadelphia for the Thanksgiving Day parade.

Tell me more about that.

Yes, they're invited display at the Thanksgiving Day parade in Philadelphia.

So it's a long trip for them, but one they enjoyed and really represented.

Camden County High School very well.

Now your team is representing very well right now, but I understand is other extracurricular sports has done well as well.

Yes, we've had a.

Tremendous fall season with our other sports, with our cross-country and our boys and girls won the region of volleyball girls.

They won the region and our softball team also won the region.

So this we've been very.

Very proud of our athletic program this fall.

It was a team came out on fire today.

Hopefully they'll come out the second half to do well.

Good luck today.

Thank you for spending time with us.

Back up to you day.

All right.

Sounds good, Daryl.

We'll check back in with you here in a minute.

We'll take.

A break.

Be right.

Catch the flip side of this halftime entertainment.

Camden County leading at 21 three, watching the USA State Football.

Championships live on GPB back here inside the Georgia Dome as the halftime festivities continue.

And now let's check in with the Northside.

Blue Wind.

Band.

All Guilbeault and J. Otis Carter, the band directors.

The drum majors with Samantha Everett and Jeremy Tommy.

160 members strong with their performance title Mean All Line is on down the.

Road selections from the 2009 competition show The Wizard Meets the Winners.

Let's listen.

Now to why now be the most is the deal you got a middle school at the end in the middle, you our.

Very own Gerald Oliveira standing by on the sideline.

Watching this routine.

And now he's got a special.

Guest with him.

Gerald, who do you have?

That's right.

I have the principal, Mark Northside, now looking out here on the game team got off to a slow start.

It came out, but they battled back.

Tell me about the performance today.

Well We're two special players away from it being a73 game.

We've got to come out second half and execute and do what we know how to do.

Now, tell me about Warner Robins.

I understand it was voted one of the best places to raise a family.

Why is that?

Well, we've got a great community.

We've got a great school system.

And this is second year in a row.

We've been voted the best school in Georgia to raise a family, and we're very proud.

How's the county?

I also understand you're building a little league complex down there and that's huge for the city.

Yes.

Our our Little League team has been involved, the national playoffs in the World Series and that kind of thing.

And so we're very proud to have that and be hosting the southeastern region for that as well.

And that complex being built down there was a game that was hosted in Florida, correct?

Yeah.

Previously it's been hosted in Florida.

Now it will be hosted in Georgia.

Now, in terms of academics, there are other five schools down there and they're supporting you guys as well.

Just tell me about the entire school.

Just.

Yeah, well.

We're very proud to represent Northside.

I mean, Northside High School in Harrison County.

We've got two other schools that are five eight there.

And how's the county?

They support us.

We always want our schools and we can't be the one that's winning.

We want our school to be winning.

So we're really behind each other and support each.

And so we always want to go out and represent Harrison County well.

Now on the extra curricular side, the cheerleaders are doing just as well out there.

Tell me about their performance.

Yeah, the cheerleaders.

Were number ten in the state this year.

They've never been to the state before.

This group of girls have not.

And so we're very proud of what they've accomplished.

We're involved in a lot of things with the school, the school our size.

You know, we have all kinds of programs going on, drama programs, excellent at our school, has an excellent tradition in our school.

So we're very proud of.

All of our kids.

All right well, everything is going well.

And good luck for your team out there in the second half.

Back up to you, Dave Hardy.

Thank you, Gerald.

Again, the halftime show continuing on right here.

And Dave Gardner, Harper LaBelle and Harper.

Let's take a look back at the first half highlights.

And they started quickly with the opening kickoff from Ian Deuce.

Brandon Brown is the only guy in number seven here.

He's not going to get a chance to catch Ian days until he's already in the end zone.

96 yards down to return.

And then Stephen Murphy followed that up with a 66 yard punt return.

It made it 14 nothing.

Special teams showing out early for the Wildcats.

Bang, bang, bang.

They're on the board again.

Here's Sullivan with the one yard touchdown Me 221 Nothing at that point And then Van Brunt got things going here.

He had Stephen Cross with a big pass boy.

Watch determination as this play unfolds.

He's not going to go.

Well, we didn't get all of that.

But I'm telling you, it was a great one to watch live.

For a field goal by the Eagles.

Got him on the board a big sack right there by Camden, though.

And then you see O'Neill going to go down the sideline right here for a pretty good run, pretty good first half for Shaquille O'Neal.

And you see back on the other end, though, Ian Days, Andre Johnson, that big tandem right there working into the middle and DE is having a pretty good first half right there and they're doing an excellent job.

Here is your Georgia EMC halftime.

Numbers as we welcome Georgia EMC back to the mix and you see the rushing yards right there, 84 for Camden, six for Northside, some passing yards as well.

They're 90 to 84.

The edge goes to the Eagles third down conversions, not for Northside in that first half, 3 to 7 for Camden.

You see the penalties and time of possession as well.

Yeah fairly close if you just look at the stats except for that one in the middle with the third down conversion Northside has to get off that punting kick.

They've got to be able to get the ball across for another first down, keep those chains moving, get themselves back in the ballgame.

But two big plays for Camden were keys for them all.

Go ahead, step aside.

Be right back with.

The second half kickoff live from the Georgia Dome.

You're watching the five a 29 GHC State football championship on GPB.

We're back in a moment.

The three hour scorer, Gerald Oliver, is standing by with coach Knicks.

Gerald.

Coach Knicks.

Generally, your team runs the ball a lot, but you were forced to pass it more.

Do you continue playing to continue to passing a lot?

We're going to get back to the running game.

We're going to try to do whatever we can to get some points.

You know, we desperately need to get back in this ball game.

And, you know, our defense settle down there a little bit.

And, you know, we just we made some plays, not played some plays and hopefully our kicking game of pick it up and we won't get you know, won't give them anything in the kicking game anymore, you know, big, big secondary fires, obviously.

All right.

Well, good luck in the second half.

Thank you, Dave Carter.

Thank you, Gerald.

And yeah, you know, you heard it from Coach the Knicks right there.

Whatever We could do to get some points in.

Know that's the thing right here they will open the second half with the football after deferring to the second half.

They're only a coin toss.

So maybe good things can happen here in this drive.

And they're going to need Van Brunt and maybe even that young man right there, Dan Mosteller, came in.

He's also got a pretty good throwing arm as well.

Not sure if we'll see him tonight, but who knows what might happen here to start the second half?

Know when Van Brunt was hurt a couple weeks ago in a playoff game against Peach Tree Ridge.

You heard a sternum and that's Taylor came in and did a fantastic job, was able to put together.

Now he hasn't had the same amount of reps but able to get a overtime victory over Peachtree.

But I appreciate Coach Nix's honesty right there.

What he's doing is saying, Hey, we got to get better right, right now.

So we're going to find out in the next couple of minutes whether or not they've got it in them.

Chris North Side busting through their second banner of the night.

You know, you've arrived when you've an opening game banner and a halftime banner and one.

Banner is enough.

And you get to you know, you got everybody in the state.

We just found out from the principal.

I mean, they've got a lot of people down there in that make an area that are supporting them.

Let's go ahead and check back in with Gerald right here before the start of the second half.

Gerald, go ahead for you.

Dave Harper and all the football fanatics out there.

And yes, we know you're out there.

You don't want to miss the 400th edition of Prep Sports.

Plus, we're going to have a complete rundown on the 29 GHC Football Finals to sure you check us out, Georgia's longest running sports and academic program prep sports.

Plus, next Thursday, December 17th, at 7:30 p.m., exclusively on GPB Gerald.

And yet now I'm sure Gerald's probably been part of that show as well over the last over the last decade or so.

We should ask him how many schools have two sites.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Gerald, if you can hear us down there, are we going to see your face?

Yes, Nicholas.

Yes, an excellent show.

We do a good job out there.

Tom Barr days.

The crew puts together a good schedule and it's very good show and everybody should check that out.

They've been putting a lot of hard work into it over the years, since the early nineties, and everybody should make sure checked it out from north Georgia to south Georgia.

We cover it all.

And that's true.

I mean, you know, from Dade County, you know, Trenton all the way down to Charlton County, you guys have been all over the place.

I know.

I've seen you on there a little bit, so it's got to be fun.

It's been an amazing run.

Yes, excellent run.

John Nelson, Lisa, with all the reporters.

It's an excellent job.

Make sure you check it out.

GPB every Thursday, 7:30 p.m.. All right.

Thank you, Gerald, and look forward to hearing from you a little bit later on of the night.

Right here and here we are.

Perched high.

Above the dome turf right here, getting ready for the second half, still a second half of football right here to be played for North Side.

And who knows?

They've got a shot to get back in this football game right here with this opening kickoff.

Yeah, that's what they're going to try to do.

One thing about the high school kids keep coming in and you get older every year, but they keep coming in there.

14, 15, 16, 18 years old.

They all get the review and do it all over again where we keep getting older but a great coverage by GPD.

Don't remind me, Wildcats of Burris with the kick off right here.

Bryson Williams on the return.

He's got a little bit of room over there.

Oh pops loose and I believe Camden recovered the ball in bounds and they did.

Going out of bounds was able to get a handle on that ball.

Nolan Martin number 40.

Six down on special teams.

And how about that?

Martin Of course, coming in, getting that ball right before it went out.

Amazing job right?

Let's watch and see who got the script right here.

And yeah, that was just a big play from behind there.

Great burst of speed to catch up and knock the ball loose.

As he turnovers right there north side with two now in this ballgame And boy the first play has not been kind of north side in either half now of course the 96 yard kickoff return by Camden to open the game and now the fumble on special teams.

And once again, the Wildcats have a short field to work with here now to start the second half.

Coach Nix may have an argument here saying that the guy who recovered that fumble may have not had possession when he went out of bounds.

But there's no replay for them.

There's there's no way to argue that call.

Camden County.

The most wins in five years since 2000.

Nine consecutive region titles.

Of course northside with two state titles as we talked about.

And let's take a look another look at it right here and we'll see and we'll see if Nolan he had possession.

Hey, look, it looked like a good call, right?

Got his knee down.

So John Madden used to write a book.

It said one neat was two feet.

So he got a knee down and that means he was in.

There you go.

And he started the ball a little bit, but I think he already had possession of it and hit the ground and then it started to pop loose.

So here the and he is over the right side.

Not much there, though, at all in the Northside defense.

You know, I guess as a player, you get the mindset that, you know, your offense is going to be on the field first defense is going to have a few reps, but then all of a sudden something like that changes.

Your defense has to get ready to go pretty.

Quick, especially on the kickoff.

You're thinking I get at least three in out before I have to go in.

But when you have a turnover like that, it changes everything for you.

Northside is going to have to answer the bell here, though.

I knew well, I would only assume that Coach Nick said, Hey, we've come back from adversity before, we're going to have some more.

But got to get through this.

Here's some initial adversity that they have to play right off the opening kickoff.

And second down and nine Camden Open their season right here in the Georgia Dome with a loss against Grayson.

Here they are, though, back alley state title game here to end the season in 2009 and hopefully for their sake with a state championship.

Andre Johnson in the Middle there will look at Jeff Herron, of course, state title at Oconee County in 1999 to state titles at Camden and looking for his third with the Wildcat program in just ten seasons, as we mentioned earlier, has been to the playoffs.

Each of his first ten seasons and just a remarkable run for this Wildcat program.

He spent 39 weeks at number one as a program.

Here's a left side driving on.

Third down and.

Five and going to be close to the marker right there.

Again, Andre Johnson, the big full back with the carry.

Meanwhile, north side of Smith.

68 weeks.

At number one as a program.

So two programs that are certainly familiar with the big stage and they've also been ranked high throughout their history.

Well, not only through Georgia, but as you mentioned earlier, they've had national rankings.

So that means people all across the country are seeing that they're doing something right.

Both of these programs, they deserve to be here.

And we mentioned that from the outset.

They're a great program.

So they get over that hump of saying, okay, I got a group of seniors that are really good.

What am I going to do next year to reload?

Well, they've got a group of juniors that get it.

They get the system and they understand and they feed the freshmen and all of them seem to feed off of one another and keep that program going.

Fourth, in less than a yard.

But Cameron will bring on the field goal team.

Matt Haws.

To attempt a 40.

Yarder.

That's lined up right in the middle of the field.

And he has has been pretty solid this year.

Low liner left.

So he has comes up a little bit short right there on the 40 yard field.

Goal and a big stop right there by the Northside defense who dodges a bullet after fumbling the opening kickoff of the half.

But now they're pretty much right back where they started.

Yeah, Dave, I'm not sure about you, but if it were a close to score, he may have gone for that.

But just settling for a field goal and just keeping drives and getting points on the board, the kick went almost sideways like a helicopter blade.

So was a big miss three has and was able to give north side Warner Robins first and ten on the 20.

Prior van brunt to work right here Quinn's nearside and that is O'Neale in motion Van Brunt going to keep it Rodgers got.

Some room Watch out and loses the handle on the football It's recovered by the Wildcats at the North Side 25.

How about that?

That's Byron Attaway, who recovered it?

JJ Green, the freshman came up and I believe he's the one that drives the ball loose.

Take it out.

Look at it right here.

Van Brunt, again, trying to wrap up the football right here, but didn't have it secured away there.

Green, of course, the freshman putting the helmet on it.

Yeah he has three fumbles from earlier and because that one there it was just one of those plays where he hit the ball.

Ben Bryant had plenty of yards there.

Just go down and take take what you got.

But obviously it knocks it loose.

The defense is back out on the field for Northside.

Well, the first two and a half minutes or so have not been kind to Northside here at all.

Let's see if that defense, though, could make another stop.

There's Ian Day's, who weaves his way forward for a couple of yards.

You know, you're talking about rankings, of course, Camden 15th in, the USA Today poll rivals high hazard at 25, ESPN, both teams inside the Fab 50, Camden at 35, and Northside at 30 MAXPREPS National Prep Bowls, you name it.

Both these teams right here are ranked mostly inside the top 50 in the nation.

You know, you get a lot of eyes and especially in college, you get your kids a chance to get recruited because of that high ranking that you have.

Here, second in eight days is tripped up and this Northside defense seems to have settled into a little bit of a rhythm right here.

You know, going back to the Alaska, to the first half.

Jesse Jackson right there, coming up with another stop.

And Camden hasn't really been able to get that running game going too much here since about the middle part of the second quarter.

I think they're just playing a little more conservative.

They're not doing things quite as wildly as they would if were they were down 21 to 3.

But they have so many different plays.

It's just it's a small playbook, essentially, where they only have six or seven spots.

They're going to try to run through it, but they have different formations and different motions and they try to fake out the defense, even though there may be several different ways of getting to the same spot, they're trying to offset what the defense is doing and making their offense more efficient.

Here is a big third down and five play over the left side, though, but not much room there at all.

Ball squirts out there, but it was after the play and the Eagle is forced another fourth down right here.

Now, they've done a fantastic job here for the first two possession, considering how backed up they were when they initially went out on first down for the last series after that fumble on the kickoff.

And now here with what the second play of the drive on the previous series.

Matty.

Is going to come back on the field right here.

They're going to put it down at the 26th.

So a 36 yard Google attempt for iOS, who missed a 40 yarder just a moment ago, move him a little bit closer.

Oh, snap.

Bold penalty marker down.

The kick is right through there.

But let's wait and see what the marker is.

The north side signaling that it's against the Wildcats.

Dead ball false start on the offense.

Five yard penalty, the man's fourth down.

So he'll have to kick it.

For cheering on the far sideline arguing that call.

My guy didn't move he never we shift we get down from a 3.2 a two point stance.

It's legal it's perfect.

Of course, they never do anything wrong, but they were flagged for it there.

And now this is a 41 yard attempt a little bit further.

Let's see if he has has the like to do it.

Miss the last one from 40 and this one is reaching and it's got the leg and it is through there.

How about that?

It didn't look.

So good off the foot.

Before you.

Hit something in the air there.

And now with a draw, he's going to be a good golfer right there.

It looked like it was going to go a little bit wide.

That's the step aside here, 24 three.

You're watching the 29 GHC State Football.

Championships on GPB options 21 point ball game Cam County leading at 24 three after the 41 yard goal from.

Matty Haws.

Who drilled it through.

There.

For plays.

Just one yard on the drive though.

But again, the field goal leading up to 2 minutes and 23 off the clock right there, 718 still left here in this third period.

You get the chance to watch the big boys, the big hawks up front, the offensive lineman, and they're meeting.

Here is Williams and this is Anderson, who will pick this one up and try to make something there.

He gets across the 20 and Northside will go back on offense.

As we mentioned, Campbell course with 24 assistant coaches are Welton Coffey the offensive coordinator actually have co-defensive coordinators and John Lindsay and.

Cedric course.

And of course, Kevin Kinsler, the defensive coordinator for the Northside Eagles.

Amazing how things have changed.

My first year in the NFL, the Falcons had nine coaches total and that included the head coach.

We had nine for any side and and a special teams guy is just unbelievable for.

My how times have changed that's for sure.

North side trailing by scores.

Right here Van brought to.

The air connect with O'Neil up at the 28 JJ Green the freshman on the coverage and I've been impressed with him you know when you dress 130 players and you're a freshman, that says a lot about the confidence that the coaching staff has in you to come in and make plays and certainly not rattled in a big game like this.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Now watch Van Brunt here, just fires it.

And this is one of those completions that he needs to get done.

Shaquille O'Neal.

But JJ with a nice I'm not going to let you go type tackle and yeah he's earned the spot you think there's a lot of juniors and seniors and sophomores it too.

I want a chance to play.

But he beat all of them by getting a chance to start here as a freshman.

Here's O'Neil.

This neilston near side.

Try to make one man this gets up across the 35, and that's a first down.

Good effort there by JJ or excuse me, by Shaquille O'Neal.

Get the first down.

They're going to look at two total yards and scoring here tonight.

Camden County, 100 yards and 24 points, north side hundred and four, but just three.

That kind of tells you how it's a win here tonight.

Again, Camden, of course, doing great, but it's also special teams getting it done and also North Side turnovers as well.

And that's not that's what wasn't on that graphic, right?

The turnovers in the special teams have made a huge difference.

You got a wildcat going on here.

Here we go.

Out of the gun.

That's cross the big tight end.

Who lined up there and took the snaps.

Trying to play around their.

Penalty markers will come in there.

Crosses wrestled out of bounds after a short gain, but looks like this was going to be moved up in favor of North Side officials getting together.

Referee Dean Stewart's been a fairly busy man here tonight, Chris North Side lost the oh five title game against Statesboro, only four losing seasons at 44 years for this Eagle program.

Truly remarkable.

Yeah, it really is great history to draw from where all the younger, personal.

Foul.

Facemask on the defense, 15 yard gain in the run first back and.

There is no five yard facemask any more in the high school football.

I mean, it's all 15.

It's all intentional.

You touch it, you meant to touch it.

But I was going to say, the younger players that come into a program, whether it be in the lower levels of feeder schools, as we see that facemask being delivered there, a little extra push out of bounds.

But it's unwritten in many respects.

You've got to bring it if you're going to play at some of these programs and get better.

So the history falls.

You we're not relying on history tonight.

We're relying on these guys that are playing right here in the now.

But all of that history comes with you in the weight room and the offseason conditioning and everything else that gets you to this level.

And play here for the Georgia Dome Championship.

You talked about the weight room game and has their Super Kat award.

Here's Van Brunt going deep.

Down the field.

Has a man there and nearly intercepted great coverage once again by green.

JJ with good excellent savvy and know how have played the man didn't make contact with him when the receiver put his hands up I put my hands up and he was able to get his hands on the ball.

It deflected away.

Really impressed with this freshman.

Yeah, absolutely.

Go ahead.

Yeah.

Five, £750.

So not all that big, but boy, he just stepped up big here tonight.

You can't measure your heart when you make some hits in practice during two days and all that.

And you a name for yourself, you end up getting on the field.

Van Brunt now will tuck it.

Ronnie just got some room.

Watch out.

First down and more into Camden territory at the 36 So a big run right there by Brian Van Brunt.

Keeps his drive going.

Good job by Pryor I put his head down I think he ran as hard as he has all evening.

You watch him.

Me watch the fake.

There's nothing downfield.

It's around Salisbury.

Next thing you know, he's sprinting up to the 36 yard line.

Great job.

On Robins.

It turned out some great athletes and it filters down to the youth.

Mark Scott Of course, the principal meeting with Gerald Oliver at halftime, talking about the new Little League complex, youth baseball winning the World Series a few years ago, youth softball team there recently in the girls softball championship there as well.

So lot of great tradition around the Warner Robins area.

Of course, veterans high schools get set to open.

And that's one of the reasons Northside will be dropping down to Foray next year.

Dropping back down where.

They won those two state titles in oh six, in oh seven.

A lot of people moving out there and there's a reason why they're at the five level with as many kids, 2000 or plus, you know, it's a lot.

And bringing in the new high school is going to filter a few of those away.

So there'll be a free school for the next penny after adjusting for the goal.

First down late penalty marker right there on that wildcat defense.

And now.

Northside.

On the move right here, taking advantage of a couple of 15 yards.

This ball going to be spotted inside the 15, just inside the 14, five, 25 still left here and period.

Number three.

Anything can happen.

Offensively.

They're taking advantage right now.

I think they get a little more intensity.

Hey, if they're going to come and bring the rush, let's wait for them to go by us.

And then we're going to run a couple of or two, whatever you can.

Bryer Looking for a big play now.

They're on the 13 yard line.

First down, a little reverse right here.

Watch out.

Quinn Green trying to flip it back.

Ball is still alive here.

Van Brunt doing everything he can and it's going to be a loss of about six yards here so a little trick eration by northside at Camden is all over it though a little pushing and shoving going on there.

I like the trickery from today.

Derek Salisbury wasn't going to fall for any of that.

He kept his assignment, made the read was in the backfield, kind of felt the ball was going to come back his way.

It was in perfect position to disrupt that play.

And call Salisbury his name a few times there in that first half.

And watch him at the top of your screen there.

Good swim move here he is to stays green and tackles the ball carrier.

Put a little lick there on Quinn Green.

Who knows what to happen.

If that were a clean handoff, it might have been a touchdown.

Second and.

16 back side pressure.

He gets it away had a man open that's green in the back corner but overthrew him and the passing game has not really been there tonight.

The north side, you know, down three scores.

Now you're in the second half.

You know, earlier we're talking, Harper, about being able to stay in the game plan, starting to get a little bit late now.

As you probably for some time.

And now you're running out.

The clock is ticking on favorably for North Side right now.

So they're happy.

Yeah.

You see, Van Brunt did get hit right as he was releasing the ball.

And that may have made just a slight difference, but it was still far enough away to where you think he's got to get that accuracy and accuracy down a little bit better.

And third and 17 North Side has won 60.

Seven of their last 70.

One games.

Camden is 89 and eight since.

2003.

Truly remarkable.

Here's a big third down Van Brunt go to fire this one up towards the end.

Zone had.

Him in and under threw him in.

Williams was the intended target that pass well shy of him at the goal line and so fourth down.

We keep a lot of stats here for the program but one of them that I haven't seen so far and I'm not asking for it, but Van Braun's getting hit nearly every time he goes back to drop a pass.

He was leveled on that one as well, threw off his back foot so the ball didn't have any type of trajectory to get to the end zone.

And it landed a little bit short, but five or six yards.

But that's because he's under so much pressure.

Camden's really bringing it right now.

They know they have to throw it.

So they're coming with that pass rush.

And whether it be a ball or a swim move or something like that, they're able to get around the Warner Robins offensive linemen.

So here is fourth down northside keeping.

The offense on the field right here.

Van Brunt.

Firing towards.

The end zone has a man and that one is complete that's going to be caught by Cottrell Brooks, the sophomore at the five.

And right at the first down marker.

They may have to bring the chains across right here.

And come right into your screen as we watch it.

Control.

Yep.

He had one foot in one knee equals two feet.

But he's going to be shy the first.

Down and they won't even need a measurement.

Boy, he did miss it by much, but he was one yard shy, maybe even less than that of the ball will go over.

So a tough break right there by northside they got the matchup they wanted just didn't quite go deep enough.

They did those two penalties, as you mentioned, help to move the ball and give them some momentum.

But coming down on fourth down because again, the pressure.

Game, the county 100 yards, ten points, defense and interception, two fumble recoveries, special teams, though, two touchdowns.

Really the difference in this game right now.

Those bottom two really speak volumes and they're going to have to call a time out here.

But only a hundred yards on offense isn't a whole lot.

But we talked about 396 last week against Colquitt in the semifinals in a 19 to 10 win.

Two guys over 100 yards rushing in that ballgame tonight.

It's been a little bit tougher against the stingy north side defense, but nonetheless, they're still leading by three touchdowns.

And you have to if you're Northside, just try to do something momentum wise.

The defense has played well.

They haven't given up.

I mean, 100 yards to a team like Camden is quite containable.

But we're dealing with some other things there, some different portions of this ballgame that they had to do better.

And fans of filling the stands here tonight inside the Georgia Dome.

Big crowd on hand, indeed.

And hopefully we'll have a big crowd to tune in to GPB on Christmas.

Eve for an evening full music.

It's Songs of the season.

It's Faith Hill's joy to the world of the festivities.

The Christmas Eve at eight, it's only on TV.

A country music band by chance.

I like any kind of music.

I really do.

I don't know if it's good.

If it's good.

It was pretty good.

It was pretty good.

I want to urge folks to join us Christmas Eve.

It feels joy to the world at 8:00 only on GPB.

So 4 minutes left here in this third period, Camden back on offense.

That stays in motion.

They'll hand it to him and he'll go forward for a couple before he's driven back by the interior of that nearside defense.

Jackson Williams combining for the hit Camden with their longest winning streak.

28 games in all three know for the longest losing streak in program history was 12 from 87 to 89, the longest winning streak for Northside 35 games for most 6208 during this championship runs the longest losing streak nine So these programs really mirror each other in a lot of ways, historically and first results on the field, obviously, two unbalanced to the left.

They run right in the middle.

Quick hitter right.

For Andre Johnson.

Watch out, boy.

A big burst right there up across the 20 and a gain of about 15 yards.

Brandon Brown pulled it down in the secondary, but not before Johnson was able to rattle off a big game.

Now, if this were old school football, Brandon Brown would have had a tearaway jersey that he would have been just grabbing.

There great tackle watch him get some by the by the waist is able to pull him down and I say there probably kept it from going another 1015 yards great job by Johnson.

On first and ten here at the 24 to is once again in motion gets the ball driving up to the throw he goes You know neither one of these two teams Harper really with a lot of D-1 commitments know we saw Sandy Creek last night.

They had six D-1 commitments and two juniors who were already getting a lot of interest on either one of these two teams here in five.

A They've got college potential really.

Bryce Williams, the only guy that's really committed, he's going to South Carolina off that Riverside defense.

But other than that, just a bunch of guys that that play football play well as a team.

Not a lot of superstars out there and, a lot of guys that overshadow the other.

It's pretty much a team ballgame.

And Lawson's motto is, if I don't, we won't.

Yeah, I appreciate that motto.

I really like it.

And I think coaches will come around eventually start recruiting him.

Here on the left side, this time at Sullivan, trying to bounce it out there.

Boy squeezes through some traffic and picks up the first down.

He needed five.

He got about six or seven.

Well, it took seven eagles to be able to bring him down.

One thing I was going to say is the difficulty with that recruiting process is a lot of schools, especially, let's say here locally, some big SCC schools, they've already finished their recruiting for this year.

They're looking at next year.

And that doesn't help these seniors out, but it gives the juniors a jump and that they're getting two, three, four extra ballgames to play and be seen with.

But, you know, hopefully some schools will be able to see that there is a lot of talent at both levels here, offensively and defensively.

Meanwhile, Camden's motto is Believe in the ball and believe in the ball for one more game is what it said on the school website.

And here's Andre.

Oh, wow.

Loose and Bryson Williams recovers it at the 49 Wow Big time pop right there Johnson loses the handle.

And Williams to.

Safety.

Pounced on it.

For northside war Warner Robins there's a lot of folks over here on this.

They are probably still your about time.

We've been hitting guys and hitting them and finally the ball pops loose and we'll see it.

Johnson had it earlier in that play.

The ball pops from going east and west where it goes north and south.

See how the ball changes right there.

Wasn't able to get his finger on it.

It was pop loose.

Great, great hit.

There.

See Williams with a recovery rashod.

Right.

You see the turnover story North Side with three Camden with their first so now Van Brunt.

Breathing new life is hit and dropped and he'll go down.

Back at the 40 good coverage downfield by the Wildcats and fans right had nowhere to go with the football and days came shooting through there and we talked about him primarily on offense but you kind of forget that he plays the middle linebacker and plays it well.

That time he came on a blitz and was able to get to Van Brunt.

Brian needed about another second before he was able to release the ball.

He had two guys running the post in and he had a go route on the left hand side and right about the time he got his feet set and said, I'm going to set you down.

Here we go.

Second down and long right here.

Quick pass out to green will give him the 40.

He gets about four or five.

But they're going to need some bigger chunks here now, a third and about 14 to go with it.

But again, the offensive line kind of talking to one another.

Come on, we've got to do this.

Sometimes they only bring in three or four.

So candidates really getting great penetration and able to mess up the timing of all of the offensive plays, especially when they're trying to pass word.

And of course, is the center 61 to 30 senior really the anchor along that offensive line?

He's also the team's long snapper.

So he's pretty much in there for everything under, you know, a little something about that.

Just a couple of things about that.

Here is Van Brunt.

He's got some room, watch out.

Stays on his feet, 45 and down to the 41.

He goes before he takes a big pop.

Good to be about two yards shy of the first down.

And that might be the final play of the quarter.

Stephen Murphy tripped him up.

T.J. Williams Reid able to hit him here at the of the play watch keep your feet keep your feet and boom big hit right there.

And that will do it.

Through three quarters of plays.

Camden County, 24.

North Side three, step aside.

Be right back.

You're watching the 2009 GHC State Football Championships on GPB fourth quarter coming.

Up from the Georgia Dome.

I wish the access to the sky just the right.

You are watching the 29 GHC Football Championships exclusively on GPB.

Camden County trying to.

Join Parkview Atlanta's with three titles.

This decade and so far so good for the Wildcats they lead at 24 three as we start the fourth and final quarter of the weekend here at the Georgia Dome.

They have Garner, Harper LaBelle, Gerald Oliveira and the rest of the GPB crew with you.

Fourth down conversions tonight northside.

Oh for one and they've got one up coming right here, fourth down and two, they play right here for the Eagles to try to stay in the ballgame.

Once again, they'll go to the Wildcat look with Stephen Cross cross for the snap he'll call his own number has.

Hit.

And boy is going to be awfully close and I'm not sure he got there.

The Wildcats think they've made a stop.

D.J.

Williams Reid, one of the first guys there, this ball may be going over what it is.

What a fantastic play by him to be able to get through all those big guys.

He's just a quarterback.

He's out there and he gets through.

Read the play early and look at him able to make the hit and does not let go.

Stop some short crosses not able to get the first down and they turnover on downs.

What a play defensively right there by the Canada defense as we mentioned very stingy throughout the season they've only allowed just eight and a half points on average and then of course just nine through the post-season, which they beat Newton in round one 4319 and of course the big win in round two against Lions ten seven shut out North Gwinnett very explosive offensive football team 35 North and 43 turnovers in the first half of that one and of course, defeated Colquitt 1910 last week.

And here is Sullivan off to the races.

Watch out into northside territory and out at the 44 Diaw Jackson.

With the stop defensively but not before a big game.

Sullivan takes the snap well actually what the handoff that was directly right after the snap that's a well time play you don't just do that you practice that over and over and he's going full speed if you watch him snap ball.

Next thing you know, the linemen are pulling.

He's got guys down the field and Warner Robins doesn't have a chance to get their north side unable to stop him before he gets a first down at the 44 yard line.

And yards have been tough come by tonight, as we've seen here tonight.

But that's more like what we've been accustomed to from this wildcat offense, quick plays and big yardage.

Here's first and ten.

Sullivan gets his number called once again.

It'll pick up a few yards.

The Northside again with a win over Chapel Hill in round one 3514.

The Hill, Chapel Hill, two -14 yards rushing.

That's amazing right there.

Really after a5a high school team that gets negative yardage at the end of a ballgame.

This went on to beat Union Grove in round 221 ten.

They allowed a kickoff return in round two and round three against Peachtree Ridge.

And of course, they allowed the opening kickoff here tonight.

So special teams haven't been all that special throughout this postseason for Northside.

It's been a little bit exposed here tonight as a couple of yards up the middle for Andre Johnson, the big fullback.

Of course, they would go on to win.

Peachtree Ridge was really a big game.

Of course, that's who was here last year against this Campbell tied came and one 2114 northside of course beat them back of the quarterfinals in three overtimes 2217 Van Brunt of course knocked out from that game I stellar came in there did well was pocket a 32 yard field goal in the third overtime to win it after missing one of the first overtime there was price and Williams blocked a field goal and of course last week against Newnham Riverside winning 2924 there knocking off the last unbeaten in five to advance here to this title game and this time Sullivan once again on the Terry Sullivan's getting a lot of work here tonight and he picks up the first down a penalty marker down low back at the 42.

So let's check the hankie here out of the pocket of our head man here tonight, Dean Stewart as well might be coming back.

Looks like he may have been talking with Zack Griffiths.

The tight end who was on the and the line of scrimmage may have flinched just a little bit.

Illegal ship on the offense, command in motion the same time five yards in previous spot.

Hill third down.

Ten straight wins for this Wildcat team and Jeff here in ten years at Camden tow is a head coach has never had a losing season.

That's just remarkable right there.

It really is.

I mean, when you think about the fact that there are so many kids that you can't control who comes in, who's big, who's little, who's got a lot talent, who doesn't.

And for him to kind of level that all out and say, it doesn't matter who you are, you got to get to this level to play with us.

And, you know, we win more than we lose.

Time out on the field right here.

Kevin wasn't talking things over.

Meanwhile, Coach Nix, as we talked about, a remarkable run for this Eagle program.

They won 40.

Five straight home.

Games at McConnell Talbot Stadium.

That's a truly remarkable right there.

Of course, they share the stadium with their rival, Warner Robins, but they've won well, they've been the home team.

They've won 45 straight at home.

And on the flip side of that, Camden has never lost to a Georgia.

High school.

Opponent on their home field under coach here, only on neutral sites, only at home.

They never lost as a visiting team.

And that's just remarkable when you put that in perspective over ten years.

That's called defending the House.

Yeah, both programs we don't lose at home.

I think coach here and lives by the philosophy never never lose at home always win on the road.

Not in my house.

Like.

You know.

If you do those, you've got.

A choice.

You can either win at home or win on the road.

Either one is going to be just what I want from you.

And here we go.

A little scissors play right hero fake.

Throw in right here.

RUIZ His third pass of the night is their complete touchdown.

MURPHY Wow.

What a grab right there.

MURPHY With the punt return earlier in the ballgame, now on the receiving end of that 44 yard touchdown pass from Joel Ruiz.

And Camden is probably.

Throwing the ball more tonight.

Than they have all year long, third or fourth pass.

Attempt of the night right there.

And this one goes for a touchdown I.

Can guarantee you they haven't run 300 plays, so they're going against their statistical information.

Watch this rose back to pass let's go over to deep post route touchdown.

Dan Tobias Anderson had good coverage but not quite good enough great angle there on the reception.

Another touchdown and it's 30 to 3 with the extra point to come.

He has, of course, booted a 41 yard field goal earlier.

Now we'll try to tack on his fourth of the night and does so.

So with 954 left in the contest, Camden County leads it.

31 to 3.

Over Northside.

As you see the scoring drive for.

Plays, 60 yards.

Just 2a1 off the clock.

And the big reception by Murphy, a 43 yarder from the hand of Joel Ruiz, the junior quarterback, 631 81 Murphy 611 64.

Four Interceptions on the year as a DB.

And here offensively as a receiver makes the big grab for this Camden service fired up now.

Yeah they are seven touchdowns to one interception great ratio for Wiese he is a safe quarterback in that we don't throw a whole lot but when we do we're efficient Big touchdown there that major of a stake.

Dirt all very standing by.

Gerald, as we see Stephen Murphy, number nine just caught that touchdown pass.

Do you know it's only his second year of playing football?

He was a basketball player and just converted over.

He had never played football any level until last year as amazing catch and amazing punt return.

And he's definitely an impact player for this team.

Yeah, Gerald, that's truly remarkable when you consider he just a second year player making plays like that.

And really the scheme to defenses is young, their entire secondary and there are too many positions that they call them are basically kind of linebacker DBS.

They're all first year starters.

So not only have these guys not not played too much, they're all get their first year starting as well.

And for the defense to be as dominant as they've been this year, that says a lot.

He has boots it away right here and Williams will take it from inside the five and Williams tripped up right at the 20.

Well, here we go again yesterday.

It all got started in the afternoon.

Buford, of course, 13 to 10, claiming the.

Two.

State championship yesterday here at the Georgia Dome, their third.

Straight.

Course, 11 rushes, 64 yards there for curry.

Just a great job right there.

Touchdown.

And of course, Sandy Creek 2915 Clark Central the four contests last night Neil 19 rushes 169 yards and two touchdowns there for the big running back from Sandy Creek.

And of course, earlier today, Wilcox County with a big effort for Marshall, 251 passing yards, a touchdown a two rushing touchdown to two TDs there over Savannah Christian and of course earlier the triple game.

Saw Peach County edged Gainesville.

1312 Davis with two interceptions, Crowell against seven tackles and one interception, also had a touchdown there offensively as well.

And Bill, just a great game there all the way around.

You hate that someone had to lose that game.

Gainesville with that the late surge there what about the length of the field at 50 seconds had a chance to win it with.

No time left with a two point play, but it came up short.

Peach County hanging on for that four.

That's a title there.

Earlier, the win their third championship in five years.

So they knew what it was like.

They've here before and they have to go in the sleet and the cold like you did a couple of years ago down at lounge.

We have highlights of that.

Probably have to play those again just to remind everybody you had to go through to bring championship performance action here.

In the Georgia Dome.

It gives you a great atmosphere, but it also helps with your parking and seating capacity.

Of course, the GHC you have those regulations and here's a big sack from behind right here.

Van Brunt didn't know it was coming.

Big Salisbury steak off the edge right there for a big takedown.

Well, I don't know what you do.

You got five linemen.

You're only being a38 defensively and they get through that cleanly.

Somebody missed a block gross been hit too many times tonight.

He's looking at his linemen a little bit and come on, guys, give me some time.

I need a little bit of time.

He had four linemen blocking two guys, and he had one that wasn't blocked at all.

So that's part of the problem here tonight for what North Side's had to deal with.

They're going to bring some more guys up there to see five tackles and two sacks tonight for Salisbury.

Oh, nice little run.

Right here for.

O'Neale all the way for up to 25.

He goes market down at the 28 Stephen Murphy tripped him up but that's a big play after a big loss right there.

Well, you mentioned experience just prior to the ball moving over.

It's one of those deals when you're in a program that's this good, your seniors get to play and you're juniors and sophomores.

They don't get a whole lot of experience until they're seniors and they're able to offset some of the talent there.

So here, 12, 14 games, 15 games into the season, you gain back a lot of that experience from that level where you didn't have any from maybe a year ago.

You're third three in front, this time to the fire.

He's got his target.

And still on his.

Feet.

That's Brooks.

He's got some room.

Watch out, try to pull away, loses the handle on the football and the Wildcats will fall on it.

And that's just the kind of night it's been tonight for Northside Zach Barnes recovered it right there.

The free safety northside had the play they wanted right here.

There is a Camden player down back at the 26.

We'll take another look at it right here.

Great.

Weak breakaway.

JJ not able to make the play and then right from behind, boom, just took the ball, just hit the nose of it.

That's all you have to do.

Sometimes watch the gap in between the ball.

There it is.

Brooks 6518.

He just a sophomore, good looking athlete but lost the handle on it.

We talked about marks the a senior 5 to £157 three interceptions this year.

We'll go ahead step aside with 822 left and.

Be right back.

Again you're watching the 2000 and GHC State Football.

On GPB Camden leading at 31 three over Northside here with 822 left and the ball game the wildcats back on offense after.

The fourth Northside turnover of.

The Knights and this one coming after a big play It looked like Northside was going to have something working the ball knocked away and now the Wildcats back on offense right here trying to run out this clock and get out here with their third state title this decade, trying to join Parkview and Lions with that honor and their partner, Harper Lavelle, Gerald Oliveira with you right here along with.

The rest of the GPB crew.

And Sullivan has finally written down just across the 40 by Brandon Brown.

You and Harper, we talked about the success of these programs, both teams 120 wins North Side with 121, both teams with 13 losses.

I mean, just remarkable to the stats, even up the way they do.

And only Buford has won more games and not one of these to this decade, but arguably the two best programs in the state of Georgia over the last ten years on display here tonight, going toe to toe.

Looked at the Macon Telegraph online earlier today and they had a debate on who was going to be if one team won.

It was that close to where whoever won the game would offset the the indifference there with the balance of who was going to be the team of the decade there.

SULLIVAN Once again.

SULLIVAN Getting a lot of work here in the second half.

If I can finish and interrupt you real quick, Dave.

One of the things that they all agreed on, all the blogs that were at the bottom was that Buford doesn't count because there are two.

Way, even though they won.

More champions.

Yeah, those guys.

Come on, they don't count.

They're not from.

From south of the state here.

So it was really between these two, as it were.

Most of the fans were.

We're going to have their debate and argue a little bit.

You see Sullivan's numbers tonight.

11 rushes, a pretty good yardage, right there.

Yeah.

You can't you can't deny Buford, though.

There's you can't deny what they've achieved.

For sure.

Over the last ten years with all those state titles and everything they've done three in a row now.

They've held a domination where them and Charlton County used to have it.

But Buford continued to dominate at the two way level.

Straight ahead, not much there at all.

That was third down, a two in the Northside defense holds with six and a half to play.

Josh Chester.

The sophomore along the front gets overshadowed sometimes by some of those other guys like Williams, Billingsley, Clark, but Chester, one of the better defensive linemen right there, six three, £245, sophomore.

So fourth down.

Campbell will trot the punt team out of the field right here.

Bryce Ramsey, the punter, has had a couple tonight, is averaging over 30 yards upon on the year.

He's got.

A long.

Standing four.

Oh bad snap right there and he'll have to eat.

It.

Ramsey falls on it.

So Northside.

Ball right there on the spot.

After 26.

Here's a break for the Eagles.

They haven't had too many of them here tonight, but there's one.

I personally hate when a player has a bad snap because I know how that feels.

And to take your punter off of his feet like he did.

Now, one thing I notice is Norris, I didn't have anybody to return the punt.

So even if he kicked it off, even if just a short one but unfortunate there for them and on a turnover but if it were a closer game with six or two left to go, we would have had a much more impactful turnover there.

Now here's Dan Mosteller stepping in at quarterback.

We saw him in the quarterfinals with a big game against Peachtree Ridge and this one Intercepted came into the game.

To throw a pass right.

Here.

He's looking to Quinn Green at the back of the end zone, but a nice job.

Right there.

By marks the free safety who rolled over and made the grab again marks with four four speed and boy he has been solid here tonight to say the least.

Tough call there to put a quarterback in a situation where your first pass here in the fourth quarter is going to be a deep corner route from he let go of that ball about the 35 yard line.

Look at this great trajectory.

Look at the spin on the ball.

Perfect.

But it was just overthrown there a little bit.

No chance to even warm up, loosen up, do anything.

They wanted the most out of him right then and there.

This came to defense Harper is at answer the challenge play after play throughout this ballgame.

No doubt about that.

They've done everything they've needed to do here tonight to claim a state title.

They lost two of their first three ball games on the year was lost here in the quirky kill classic against Grayson.

And it lost on a last second field goal to Alabama powerhouse Hoover back on September 11th.

So a tough loss right there.

But They haven't lost since.

And part of that may be because some of these seniors as underclassmen three tackles fumble recovery interception for Zach Marks what a great way to finish the night in and end your career with a two time state champions look imminent, but with a great game like that might be the play of the game.

It's time to as a little scissors play right here.

Sullivan once again has got the bulk of the work in the second half.

Sullivan dragged down by.

Right.

At the 25.

It'll force third down North Side with 100 and.

31st team in.

All state players in their history.

100 and.

3134 NFL players.

Most recent Chancey Stuckey, currently with the Browns, came out of the school side program, of course, for NFL from the Wildcat program, Travis Taylor, one of the most recent the Ravens you see coach Conrad Nix is certainly coach some good ones over the years coach of the year in 2001 2007 two separate stints at North Side 24 years all together and a remarkable run.

And here's some real estate right here.

Watch out.

All kinds of running room right.

There for a number five.

Michael Hamilton looks like JJ Green.

How about.

That?

Baker A agreed the freshman will get some offensive snaps.

Is that a sign for the things to come here?

We're looking at him.

Did a fantastic job on defense tonight.

And then JJ, how about running the ball just a little bit?

Let's see what you can do.

And next year, watch out.

Tell us what you you have some talent here as a sophomore.

Yeah, I can do everything.

Yeah, well, kickoff of the offensive coordinator.

Coach, copy.

Talking to those defensive guys saying, hey, let me borrow him a little bit and they use him on offense.

So first down right here.

Risk quick pitch Sullivan to turn the corner will stay in bounds is set up so that ball taken away.

They're going to mark it down, though.

Well, that would have been a big break right there for Brandon Brown.

He was able to rip that ball away.

Brandon Brown excels in the classroom, do 3.2 GPA, and that young man right there really defines the term student athlete.

He's the epitome of it.

That's what you like to see is guys like you come out here on Fridays and Saturdays, I guess throughout the season, and then of course, make plays and also make grades in the classroom.

He still have some time to work out a little bit.

You see by his arms there, he's cut defined.

He's a big, strong kid and we wish him well in his future rest.

Look, looking over at the sideline right here, getting to play from the coaching staff, trying to run as much of that clock off as possible at this time of give over the right side there a few yards.

For Hayden Boudreau.

Number 45 with his first career that I.

Nice pickup for Hayden is that looking at him he's probably not a speed guy but you never know the future where if he's got a chance to be one of those ones that takes it up the middle and turns into a short yardage.

Guy William Perry was one of.

Those few guys that was able to cross over and make something amazing happen for the Chicago Bears.

Once again peeking over on third, down and fourth and Sullivan this time is going to be hit big Greg Clark 99 wrapping of up in there and it'll force fourth down this north side team the senior group 53 and three 1997 was the last time the north side did not win ten games of the season.

It's been well over a decade, 12 years, in fact.

Yeah, that's an amazing stat, isn't it?

I mean, you have you have certain teams like we mentioned earlier, Coach Herron had some interesting perspective on the way he did it.

You know, we hadn't had a losing season forever, but to have ten wins 12 years in a row is just an amazing accomplishment.

Ramsey gets his hands on this one, gets it away under a heavy north rush.

O'Neale will let it go right here and is down at the 15 there.

You look at the.

Bobcat cheerleaders in the house.

You're sharing an interesting stat with me and I actually do the answer to it.

If you want to share with the viewers at home, maybe we'll let them take a guess at it.

Well, now that you've pretty much it away, I had said what sport proportionately, if you follow the sport has more injuries than any other folks.

It take, Dave more than 2 seconds to say cheerleading.

That's right.

Ankle and.

Cheerleading statistics.

Some of those more injuries.

Yeah, they really do.

I would never guessed that until somebody relayed that to me a while ago.

But cheerleading is a difficult sport.

It is North.

Back on offense right here Estella stays in the game at quarterback was Travis Boyd number five with the a kicker right there Boyd had a big touchdown that sealed the win over Chapel Hill in round number one of the playoffs for sport.

A three time wrestling region champion.

He's got it done on the football field this year.

We go inside 2 minutes this time out.

Coach Conrad Nix, his son Patrick, was the offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech in Miami over the years.

And boy, big stop right there that time, the number 61 all over to play.

Brian Layfield Excuse me, it was looked like Donald Glover And they're continuing to make plays right here and some other guys get in the ball game here in this last minute, third and five for Northside as the time continues, roll away.

Kind of nice that you may maybe some seniors here in the lineup that aren't starters but have been a part of this program now for three or four years, getting a chance to say, I got to play in the state championship.

Good for them.

Coach Jeff Aaron about to become the.

10th coach.

In Georgia to win a.

Fourth state title.

Here is Perry number three on the series.

Up to the he gets a first down and that might be the final play of the ball game right here as the celebrate begins in the stands for the Camden County Wildcats and coach Jeff Hair and get some hugs from some players over there as the time rolls away, Northside will not snap it again.

That will do it.

Congratulations.

Back to back championships aren't easy to accomplish, but he made it look easy.

Tonight.

The Camden County.

Wildcats and head coach Jeff Herron are.

The 2009 GHC, a class.

Five state champions.

Celebration is on at midfield right here.

Coach Jeff Herron becoming the 10th head coach in Georgia to win his fourth state title.

Camden joins Parkview.

Atlanta's with three titles this decade.

As the debate for team of the decade rages on, Gerald Oliveira standing by with a winning Gerald.

Merritt coach here on this is one of the things that you really want to accomplish back to back state titles.

How does it feel to finally do it?

Well, it feels great.

I'm not going to lie.

It feels great.

And this has been a special year and a special group of kids because we were one and two and a lot of people didn't think we were going to get to the you know, make it past the first round.

I've heard that from some of our fans.

And for them to come back like they did and just keep getting better each week, my hat's off to our seniors and, you know, they play their hearts out and they never gave up on it and they played well tonight.

You have a lot of support down there in Kingsland.

Tell me about the community down there.

Well, they've always supported us.

Great.

You Look over there in the stands.

And what a fantastic job by them.

Our band, our cheerleaders, all of them, but they always do.

And they deserve this.

This is a community when.

They deserve it.

All right, coach, congratulations.

Go enjoy the win.

Back up to you, Dave.

All right.

Thank you, Gerald.

After losing the series in oh seven, the Camden County have won back to back state titles here, most recent here in 2009.

Congratulations to the Camden County Wildcats head coach Jeff.

Herron 2009 GHC Class.

Five state champions and man oh man, what a weekend.

It has been plenty of high school football taking place over the last two days.

I've enjoyed it.

It is certainly been a ride.

And boy, this Camden County team has made their case for certainly being the team of the decade.

Now to Matt Ryan to introduce the player of the game here in just a moment.

Matt Ryan, of course, and the Atlanta Falcons, a big part of the GHC High School football playoffs this year.

In the meantime, we're going to take a break and be right back to the.

Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Or on the other side of the break.

Stay with us.
